You can buy it at http://www.jbtv.co.uk They will ship anywhere in the world.
It's called StarGazer and it is worth paying for. |

This is one of those effects that would benefit GREATLY from a little password-protected video demonstration that comes with the purchase. The instructions look a photocopy of a photocopy of someone's handwritten notes. The illustrations make it impossible to see which band is in front or behind. (You can figure it out, but it was a challenge for me.) Everyone slams Penguin for being better marketers than magicians etc., but that is one aspect that they have really nailed.
Anyway, don't be discouraged. Despite my whining, I figured out Stargazer pretty quickly from the instructions, and it is a truly charming effect. Even after rocking a few excellent card tricks, people will definitely remember the little star more than the other difficult and expensive effects you show them. -Daniel |

The effect is unimpressive without the bag of star shaped rubber bands. Alan Wong is a member of the Café, and the inventor who frowns upon xeroxing his instructions, but if you contact him he will be glad to sell you the instructions, with replacement rubber bands for under $20 dollars. I suggest you get more than one bag, because it will soon become your favorite trick. If you give a business card out with every rubber band they will pay for them self many times over. Just tell Alan "the rubber band man" sent you. HAVE FUN Al Angello

Hi all, Can anyone give me any details on where to get a large bag of replacement star shaped bands, as I can see msyelf using thousands of them. It is a beautiful effect and I want to write a sacramental/spiritual story to use with it to enable people to discover their own inner 'star-like' beauty etc.
I do not know how to contact Alan Wong directly. Many thank, Mark T (trickyvicar)

Buddy,
"Stargazer" is a popular marketed effect. I guess the familiarity that some have with it led them to believe everyone knew about it already. It's basically a rubber band routine where you make several intricate shapes with your fingers and two simple rubberbands (similar to the children's game Cat's Cradle), only to finish with one band retaining that shape (in this case, a star). Specially shaped rubber bands are becoming common in Japan, but haven't made it very far yet in the U.S. market. Until the time comes that they're commonplace items, we can take advantage of that by using them in magic presentations such as this. A search on dealer sites should give you a much better idea about it than my weak attempt at a description here.

Thank you all who shows continue support to my StarGazer routine.
Like the crazy man's handcuff, it's becoming more and more popular as a rubber band trick but few people are buying the original now as they just get the stars and copy my instructions, or recreated them and sell them too! A re-release of StarGazer trick will come out later with my DVD demo. Any one who has seen Jeff McBride's routine performing my StarGazer are very fortunate to see the power of his presentation! To this end I say thanks to those who buy the original routine and continue to perform it and give the gift of magic to the people around them. Alan Wong

Is there a demo of the Jeff McBride "Stargazer" routine? Simon Shaw a magician from England has a great "stargazer" routine also, but there is no demo of it. Al Angello

Jeff McBride doing stargazer...i'd love to see that
is it in one of his videos? |

KernowMagic New user 12 Posts |
Hello Eryanic.... I don't think its in any of his videos.
Jeff showed me and a few others the delights of the stargazer a few weeks ago, and ever since all we get asked for are the bands and Alan's script!! It's now a firm favourite for all who were involved. Perhaps you'd like to sign up for next years McBride Master Class event we host here in the UK each year. I think Jeff must have done the effect a dozen times during the few weeks he was with us. Kenny Kernow Magic - Dare To Be Different http://www.kernowmagic.co.uk

Hello all,
Jeff's routine has all the same moves as mine but his presentation is very special. What do you expect from the master??? He does not have this on video except for the only one I video taped it at his home! Thanks Alan
