The vast majority doesn't understand french.
So I try a translation for the others : "Merci pour l'idee de la carte à jouer! " aka "Thanks for the playing card idea" And my response : De rien ! :)

If you want new fresh ideas with a thumb tip, check out Alexander de Covas new DVD: Examining the Thumbtip.

One other thing that I notice that people have been commenting on,.... unless you like to paint your fingernails in a gloss finish, the Fredi TT has a very shiny nail. Not what I want really. How would I get the shinyness to come off without affecting the color or finish?

Actually, I know of what you are talking about. Your suppose to be able to have a purple one on and no one is suppose to notice. Yes, well, that is the way of the old magician. But, us new magicians prefer the 'in your face' approach. And if I can flash my TT in your face and you notice nothing, all the better for the effect. I show both hands and all fingers.... both sides, and the "WOW" factor goes sky high. Most of my friends have throughout the years noticed that I never showed both thumbs. Now it's a different story! I also found a way to show both side of the hand and no one noticed the TT on. You have to use the natural creases in your hand and that way no one notices anything. Of course if this were a typical TT, then the colour would have stood out and of course people would see the gimmick.
I am moving in a new direction and what I am looking for is stuff that can be shown, without you noticing anything different. Move along with the times and you'll move the market into providing quality items for us to use. --------- I did try one method of getting rid of the shine... I used some water sandpaper, very fine, and it took a long time etching just the thumb nail part. It worked! Shine is gone and it now looks normal. However, do not scratch any part of the finger part - the part with finger prints. It will damage it and show a white-ish patch. I have a solution for that mistake as well! Use some make-up [foundation I think it's called] (get it from your girl friend!) and touch up that are. Use some clear glue such as cyano whatever it's called. I use it for my other hobby... but that's another forum! Use very little glue, and mix it with the makeup on some surface. Do it fast, then apply sparingly. Re-do if you need more. Careful not to put the glue directly on the TT. |

Im in the market for some new TTs I have one from 11 years ago that might need change. But I havent seen to many since I first got mine so I don't know which route to go. I also have a few D'lites but those are too sticky. Mine is platic but not too tough. This the way to go?

This seems like an awful lot of money to replace something that aint broke. I used to work in a magic shop and regularly used a thumb tip painted white with tippex just for the crack. I now use my vernet thumb tip five nights a week without problems. and can flash it as much as is required to sell the illusion.

No, I think that Paisa is just showing proper technique for keeping two purple thumbtips hidden.

Not much sticks to silicone, accept silicone. If the nail base is the same material than anything painted on it will sooner or later fall off.
Every male magician SHOULD LEARN HOW TO DO THEIR NAILS! I learned and while it can take 20 minutes per hand if you do all the steps, you can get a nice smooth shine: no polish is needed. Just buy a 1 n 8 nail buffer stick from CVS for about $3 and go through the steps to nice nails. (PS the ladies dig a man with clean nails as well!) You will find, after your first few times that you will like the feel and look of manicured hands. For some reason it looks healthier. Try it and see. Anyway, that should solve the shine problem. If you are too lazy to do your nails, get the buffer stick and try it on the nail before sand paper. Start on the softest and move down until you get the dullness that matches your nail. You will take less of the finish off (unless you are using 1500 grit sand paper but the stick is cheaper than that paper. Good luck. Quote:

The idea of a TT that more closely approximates the look of my own T is intriguing, but I've found that even with my better TTs I have trouble getting a good skin match. These are particularly impressive because there are several shade/color options. I want to get as close as possible to my own skin tone if I'm spending this much on a TT. With that in mind, I have a pinkish skin tone. Would I be best served by the pale or standard?

I got the standard Caucation and it leans towards a more pinkish attitude. Perhaps this is what your looking for?

Just curious if anybody else has the same problem?
My Fredi is now "spotty". Lots of paint falling off and the nail is really a terrible color. The company will not answer any emails from me. What a waste of $35 DON'T BUY THIS THUMBTIP. James

It is about 3 months now? Mine seems ok. It probably got something to do with humidity.

The one I saw looked very good, but was too light for my skin tone. (I saw the "Standard Caucasian") My skin is a bit more "olive" complexion , so I ordered the "Meditteranean" color . Hope it's a good match. |

Not answering emails says that something is not right ...whether they are overwhelmed with trying to fill backorders for their product or overwhelmed by trying to fix an unforeseen problem with the product (the paint peeling), the lack of response to customer inquiries tells me that something isn't quite right there. I know it's no comfort to you, James, but I'm hoping that maybe you just got a bad one (which hopefully they will come around to replacing for you) and that most of the Fredi Up TT's are not going to suffer from this peeling problem. If no one else reports in with this problem then I think we can safely say it's an aberration (again, one which I hope the company will provide a replacement for you). |
