I was just wondering where are some good sources on learning the egg bag. I would have to say that my want to learn this effect was spured from what I heard eric decamps did with it. I am just looking for sources to find as much info on it as I can. And if it matters the style of bag that I have is the malini style, those who do this effect know what I mean.

There's also a big yellow bound book, called "The Egg Bag Book" it is a mini-encyclopedia of egg bag routines of famous magicians through the years.

To be honest, I hope not.
The performances of the great routines are well worth the money. everybody hates videos these days. look for a copy of carney's "up close and far away" on ebay.

Here's a video clip from Japan. I have several clips from him but don't have his name.

I really like the Greater Magic video - that's what I learned my routine from. I use a Pauline Tong Tarbell Bag, with a practice golfball, and the Martin Lewis routine. It has a quick learning curve and hits an audience with both barrels!
I saw the Eric DeCamps routine, a few weeks ago, and it was really nice. I REALLY like the Dan Tong routine for the Malini Bag. But, the best routine that I ever saw with a Malini Bag was by Harry Riser - you'll learn all of the finer points, studying his routine. |

If Penguin Magic ever gets the Gazzo DVD out, it will be worth the 24.95

Spectator interaction is a key part of this routine.
Gazzo does not utilize this much. I was surprised and a bit disappointed. I liked the DVD for ideas but not the routine itself. I would suggest getting other offerings first.

DAve: The clip from Japan shows he is basically doing the Ken Brooke handling. Which IMHO is all you need to know... it is very commercial, easy to do and fools badly.

I repeat, get the Ken Brooke instructions, which is basically the Charlie Miller handling. You really need nothing more, it is commercial, easy to do (does require performing skills) and as good a routine as you will find.

I've seen him do it up close five or six times and it really is amazing that the bag could be anything but empty. Harry tells the story of Charlie Miller and Harry's wife working on creating the bag together until finally getting it just like Charlie wanted it.

Get a hold of the Denny Haney performance tape if you want a lesson on the Egg bag. Basicly the Ken Brooke routine, but it's great to see a real pro at work.
