I really want to use these cards for card magic but I don't feel like spending 100 dollars for like a deck or two. So I was think mabye if the Jerry Nugget Casino got enough e-mail asking to re print these cards again mabye they will do it. Its worth a shot. I all ready e-mailed them asking if they can. You guys should too.

Here is there contact info...

The legend has it that there was a printing flaw with a great many, if not all, of these decks that could be exploited by cheaters.

The reason they sold them (all 45,000 or so the legend goes) was so the flaw could never be exploited.

For technical reasons concerning the printing and finishing process used on the Jerry's (and the identical Golden Nuggets, Carson City Nuggets and Dunes cards), they cannot be reprinted exactly as they are now.

Of course, the back design could be duplicated, but not the paper/finish.

My guess would be that some part of the proccess uses something like lead or cyanide, such that even though the final finish is safe, new laws somehow prohibit the finish from being made.

Just a guess but generally sometimes products won't be "as good as they used to be" and it's because some key ingredient was found harmful and was discountinued.

Well I am glad I sold my deck when I had the chance. I sold it for $103.00! I paid $79.00 on ebay for a copy of Kenner's book, only to have it reprinted 2 months later and selling for about 40 bucks less. I never buy something when the hype for it is high.

Yes but you have the first edition Kenner book...

There are PLENTY of instances even outside magic of first edititions going for many times the price of the reprints, so I don't see how that correlates to any hype or some sort of price bubble or anything.

Just as you could have someone print up a bunch of faux Jerry's Nuggets, they might lower the cost a bit for the originals, but they will still hold their value imho, because they are the originals.

Not only are they good quality cards with interesting back designs, but they are a piece of history really, and reprints(imho) won't really detract from them.

I've never held a deck of Jerry's, so I can't really say how great they are. I'm lucky enough though to have one card. I purchased a card to wallet on ebay, and a Jerry's joker was in the zipper compartment. I use it as a bookmarker.

Whenever I see a deck sell for a hundred bucks I wonder if the buyer knows that there's 45,000 decks sitting in Dominiques basement somewhere in France?

No, Dominique only bought 1,000 decks from what I've heard.

Why?

Robert

The reason is because of EPA restrictions, etc. and becuase of this USPCC uses different stock and finishes now. The same reason old Bicycle/Tally-Ho, etc. decks feel much different than the new ones. Even decks from the early 90's feel much different. You can reprint the look of the cards - the new "Vintage" series, etc...But they will never be the same as the old decks.

The USPCC just needs to design a very high quality card with a few back designs that are targeted specifically for magicians.

USPCC could care less about magicians as a market. We are such a TINY part of their market it's not worth their time. But at least they have taken our suggestion to re-release some of the older back designs. That's a HUGE step in the right direction.

Although I agree with you I have to be the grammar police and let you know that if they could care less then that means they do care a little. If they couldn't care less then that means they don't care. Smile

I thought Lee Asher had the most decks known. I am lucky to have 2 cards Smile. They came in my Cameleon cards effect by Daryl, somaybe, if I buy another 25 sets of Cameleon cards, I will get a whole deck???

I have one card, an autographed one by Lee Asher. And I agree with Matt, we gotta rob Dominique.
An amatuer practices untill he gets it right, a professinal practices untill he can't get it wrong.

Don't wait for oppurtunity to knock, throw open the door, grab it by the throat and drag it inside kicking and screaming.

Magically yours
