Now, everyone who has used them does agree that they would never pay that much for a deck, so they're not THAT special. That's not true. In fact, if anything it's the opposite. I use them and will gladly buy more when I run out. Not only that, but I've shown them to many magician friends who've never used them before, and after letting them use the one deck I've opened (I've been using the same deck for months), several of them have bought more on Ebay. I agree that even though they are very high quality cards, they shouldn't cost so much. That said, they DO cost that much, and a lot of people (Myself included) are willing to pay the price for them. These cards sound great and I would definently get a deck if they were reprinted.

PLEASE let me know if you have any success, so I can unload mine before they are worthless '8) I've been caught by a few of those 'collectible' books that were re-printed and made my high priced copy worth a fraction of its purchase price. Thank goodness I value books beyond their suggested prices, not so with cards. For cards its all about the highest bidder, baby '8)

Jerrys aren't coming back, you don't have to worry about it. The story behind why they're not coming back is out there in other threads if you're inclined to dig it up.
Your only real concern is what happens when the 30 thousand or so decks sitting in a warehouse in France come onto the market, that's when all those $100.00 decks will start to seriously drop in value. |

Something I never really thought. Most people want these decks as Marlo and Vernon were famous for using these cards. Now, if it was a deck that Vernon actually handled, and it had that sor of personal value, then a deck of cards might be worth $100 to me, but a deck of cards is a deck of cards. Are people saying that Vernon and Marlo wouldnt be great if they used Bikes or Tally Hos? Just because they liked this card, doesn't mean it made them the magic gods they are. I use Blaines Split Spades, and I like them. They are on Tally Ho thick card stock and they look nice. Treat them well and they last for a long time. If you paid $100 for a deck, what would you do with it? Use them and waste Ł100? Or just sit them on the top shelf to get dusty and look good to magicians? The only reason I don't use Bikes is because I enjoy fooling magicians, and gaffs come in Bikes, so I don't use Bikes to eliminate that thought in their mind. Laymen couldn't care what deck we used. Whether it is a $1 deck or a $200, they don't know and wouldnt care

I love the story of how Lee Asher sometimes does routines at his lectures that involve destroying a card (think card warp type destruction) and he uses Jerrys to do the demo.

If you were one of Duvaliers heirs, and you figured you could get a quick hundred grand for those 40,000 decks in the basement (that's only about $3.00 a deck by the way) you can bet an eBay auction will shortly follow advertising 10 decks of Jerrys for $20.00.
THAT'S when I'm going to pick up my decks! |

Jerry's nuggets are sooo unbelievably ugly. Such a boring design, and since these cards are mostly not even only for xcm stuff. but since this is again for entertaining and astionishing people the design takes a major role besides your skill (in my opinion). So why should I spend a more than ridicoulus price for such a deck? This is so stupid. and especially card magic. I mean nothing wears out faster than a deck of cards, ESPECIALLY if you are doing some fancy stuff with it. I mean if these cards were indestructible this would be a deal, but otherwise...
btw: I liked the story about the casino which gave you a jerrys deck for free just because of your ambition to revive these cards! very nice one!

Wow, I can see you have a lot of authority to post on this subject!
You're unbiased, a positive thinker, and you've obviously handled the cards on more than one occasion! Don't post a bunch of negative comments on a subject you don't know anything about. |

Well ok, lets resume my post for a sec: 1. I said they are ugly since they have an extremely boring back design. ok, here you go, it is a negative comment. does it show that I have no knowledge about the subject? I don't think so.
next thing: fancy or stylish looking cards are an additional eyecandy in xcm. - well you can bet your as# that this is true. but maybe it is only for people I perform for. next thing: price is ridiculous: well of course paying 50 and more bucks is not crazy... I know. I order cards in such a price category always in bulks... man what's up? don't you agree with this one either? next one: cards wear easily out. -> if you ever performed xcm or even normal magic you can just say: amen. logical conclusion on this point: spending very much money on a thing which is not very durable (i mean cards in general with that, not the nuggets compared to any other deck), is crazy. so what's up? where is the problem witht he post? anything is correct. and only because it was negativ you are p#ssed off?? and of course only through that I have absoluetly no idea about the subject here..... oh btw: did I tell you already how hard these cards sux? how bad the handling is? what a bunch of crap these cards are in comparision with other cards? ......................... no? well, if not....hm maybe they ARN'T! I never said anything about how they are and how they handle. I NEVER spoke about the quality. I just spoke about the price and the look of them. one last thing: most of us have the same authority on posting on any subject you want. you don't know 99% of the people here. ans therefore you can't say anything about them, this includes skills as well as knowlegde. so maybe you want to be careful in future with such things, before you start to post anything like that again.... I've spoken to Lee personally about this. He DID date her, and Dominique DID buy around 1,000.

I'm sorry but I have to agree with Memory-Jah.
These are some *** ugly looking cards. People forget it is the performer not the cards. No matter what cards you use, you still have to practice hard to become a good. I have handled both and I would choose good old Tally-Hos anyday. Just my 2cents. |

You have NOT handled Jerry's. If you have and still think badly of them, you have HORRIBLE taste.

Bhasbun,
I'm glad to see you can respect a person's personal preference and point of view. At the end of the day, Jerry's Nugget cards are just playing cards, they will not make you a better magician by using them no matter how much you pay for them they still are ugly designed cards. And yes, I have handled Jerry's Nugget cards. I actually have two packs that are quite old and beaten now. But I maintain that I personally do not find anything wrong with them when they were newer, but I will stay with my Tally-hos just the same. |
