If you were a judge:
If I used correct patter and it went well do you think it is approriate to end a closeup act competition with producing a dove? Would you think A: "Stupid kid - birds are for stage" OR B: "Cool" Thanks |

Are you still producing it after the manipulation VIA dove pan?

How do you plan on producing the dove and what are you doing before?

Does it make sense to produce the dove? Is there a reason to do it?
But then does it ever make sense to produce a dove? As a judge I would mark you up only if it made sense and was not done just to do it.

If your closeup act is performed standing and you produced a dove in a theme consistant with your act, I see no problem.

I agree as long as the dove ties into the theme you have, I say work it in. Doves are always great and in close up you don't see much of them. It would be original.

The routine itself is the best shot at being original. The actual effects are usually very old. Go for the routine as a whole. Good Luck! Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

Johnny Ace Palmer ends (ended?) his close-up act with a dove production, then splitting the dove into two.

Just saw Johnny Ace Palmer with his baby-chickens. Seems to work for him in Close Up. Basically I think everything is allowed as far as it is presented professionally. In Europe the view of working with animals has changed in the past few years. You realy have to treat animals right and the audience should feel good about your handling. Otherwise you have no chance. Colored birds, animals with clothes on etc. would not work anymore. Which makes sense to me.

Ditch the dove, for no other reason than I find working with animals so dated and quite frankly painful to watch.
Well, you did ask....... |
