Have you heard of Charlie Frye? I've never met him but I've been keeping his DVDs a secret for a long time. I have bought and viewed many times his Eccentricks Volume 1 and Volume II and have loved them to death! This is what comedy magic I really like. A real goof ball, funny guy, and an accomplished juggler and magician. I just found out he has a third DVD Eccentricks 3, and I just ordered it from his website: http://www.charliefrye.com
Am I alone in liking his DVDs, or are there others here on the Café that are familar with Charlie Frye's DVDs and stage acts?

Hi Den.
I have Eccentricks I & II and love his silly stile to make juggling and magic. I already order his new DVD and it's on the way. I started to include juggling in my magic show after watch him. Juggling 2 plates or 3 balls are no to difficult and you can build very funny routines. His magic tricks are good as well. So, Dan please posts your review if you get it first, ok. Regards! |

I love juggling, and I taught my two sons to juggle, however, mu left arm does not toss the ball up right. My sons out shine me in two days and my youngest already won a contest.
I guess the younger you are the easier it is to learn. Den

Thanks Den for letting us know about Vol.3.... and dam, I promised my spouse I wouldn't buy another magic trick. Hope she can't get in the door at the Magic Café. Reminds me of the 'snugs' in Irish bars where the man would go to enjoy a pint in secret in a small wooden enclosure called a 'snug.' And Den I think it was you who mentioned many posts ago an effect called 'Balloon to Dead Dove' Can you tell me anything more about this?? Happy Easter to you and your family!

This is one of Kihl & Company's signature routines where he shots the ballon and featers fly off, no dove, so a mack comical funural is held. There is also play f comedy leading up to the shooting such as the balloon flying away then "Fatena" the weird funny assistance standing in front of the balloon as Kohl was about to shot it with a gun.
It is a funny routine.

Alone! You guys must be crazy! He is an INCREDIBLE performer!!!!
I love his stuff. A lot of what he teaches would take a significant amount of time to learn, but hey, afterwards, you have a priceless routine on your hands! I saw him for the first time in Houston, TX for the TAOM Convention. I bought his DVD that day and ordered a derby to practice a hat spin. I now use both in my act and have gotten a really great response. If nobody knows about Charlie Frye, he is the certainly a buried treasure! I would recommend his DVD to any magician. Even if they were not interested in learning his style of magic, you pick up great performance tips just by watching his act. Take a look at his "promo video" on this web site... http://www.charliefrye.com/

Not only is his stuff great for magicians, it is also good for jugglers. He has slick routines with a wider variety of props than most performers. I'd like a review of Eccentricks 3 as I am less interested in the magic than the juggling and there doesn't seem to be much of that on this latest DVD.

Not only are his DVDs great but his little tricks in Magic Magazine are pretty cool too. He certainly is an entertaining guy and I have formed many ideas from watching him work.

Charlie Frye's DVDs are a must have for anyone who is serious about magic, juggling, or comedy.
These DVDs include some of the most mind blowing routines you will ever see. They are by far the most entertaining DVDs that have ever been put out. I have on many occasions had friends over who are not magic guys and just played the performance only sections of these DVDs and they love them. There are no pipe dreams on these disks, none. 100% professional, entertaining, magic and mayhem. Many, many, classics of comedy and magic are covered on these tapes from plate spinning, card manipulation, impromptu table magic, ring on rope, the shell game, the cups and balls, the three card monte, juggling, physical comedy, wild stunts, crazy gags, you name it. On top of being one of the most talented and versatile guys in variety entertainment Charlie and his lovely wife Sherry are two of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet. I got the chance to hang out with them a bit last weekend and see their live show. If you think the DVDs are great you should see his stage act! I own a lot of magic DVDs if I could only keep three it would be the Eccentricks series. All of Charlie's stuff can be purchased here be sure to tell him I sent you.
