Get the coin close to the edge of the thumb, and use that little flap of skin that it creates to make the coin pop. If you have msn, like I have said to soo many people, add me to it, and I will show you on webcam.

Do you have a callous yet? Keep at it all the time until you get a callous. That will make it even easier to do (and less painful!) and help shoot it farther.

Thought so. I was thinking today that my hands might be too soft
I could be right. I'll try practicing too.

For me, throughout the day I'll randomly do pushups, in sets of 40, whenever I feel like it's time, usually about every half hour. What I did was after I did those I'd musclepass a coin 40 times. It was just something that took like 5 minutes to do and after just a few days I had a pretty good callous going. I was able to go from about a quarter inch vertically to about 6 inches in 3 weeks.
You'll be able to get it higher in performance with a coin that has ridges, but you'll develope a better calous with a soft coin in my experience, because it gives more contact area, making it blister better. If you practice enough the first day, you won't be able to do it the next day, just beacuse of the pain. That's normal. It probably won't come back after that second day. It's cool to see how far you can get in a month though. Just practice it ALOT. It's not even something you have tothink about while you're doing. |

Maybe Dan Watkins could get a word on this. his muscle pass is unbelieveable
or search for forums for this topic. I'm sure there is another thread with a video of watkins doing a muscle pass a few feet. its scary stuff.

I can't do it, and I have been a coin worker for years. Then again I don't practice the pass as much as I should I guess.

The MP has nothing to do with developing a callous. The muscles in your hand must be physically strenghtened. Just like body building....but for your hands. My positioning is in the identicle position where I classic palm my coins. Even if your technique is correct, you'll not be able to lift the coin until the muscles are strong enough. Exercise must be continued everyday, and once 'mastered', must be maintained. Some have suggested starting with plastic poker chips to begin the process.
Beginners will start by being frustrated. Then proper technique will be discovered. Then severe pain will develop (no joke - you must not quit here). Then the muscle will build. Then its smooth from there. It may realistically take about 6 months + for this process. This technique is extremely undervalued and incredibly versatile. |

The secret to the muscle pass is persistant practice... you'll KNOW when you have it down.

I felt so good once I mastered it, now I have no use for it except to make my finger ring shoot up from hand to hand.
I think its just one of those moves where you just need to learn it for your own self gradification. smaller coins like quarters work best for me JR

Try shoot the coin horizontally first, instead of vertically.
It helps build up your confidence. Shawn.

I guess it varies for every hand type. I do it better with bigger coins. As a matter of fact the bigger coins helped me strengthen my grip. Since the muscles of the palm are naturaly spaced apart, it kinda facilitated its grip to adjust to smaller coins in time.
I seem to find a couple of good uses for this sleight. Shoot O has an interesting applications. Rannie

As Rannie says, check Neo-Purse Frame on Cultural xChange - quite a magical use for the MP.

Try practicing with heavy coins or metal washers. try super gluing two coins to gether and practice with that. then when you use smaller coins it becomes easier
