WOW!!!!!!!! Fender just came out with a PD-500!!! Check it out. I cannot imagine how those suckers sound as I own a PD250 (Mine will blast people away as it is). This is like the next level in portable audio. I cannot imagine it.

Wow!! That looks great! I currently own a PD-150 and I love the portablity and sound of my unit and more important, the price! Have you checked out how much they want for this unit. Fender MSRP $1999.00 U.S.

I know! I saw the msrp. For what I do though - I would only use a fraction of the power. Basically, the 500 is the Grandaddy - but I can more than get by with what I have. It all depends on your needs.

Deadly may be the right description. I'll bet it would be deadly on the back! The PD 250 is enough, usually more than enough for me! This beast would be overkill for my needs!!!
I have a large PA system that is terriffic. The whole idea that sold me on the Passport system is it's small size and portability. If I needed more power than a 250 I would go an entirely different route than the Passport. Don't get me wrong, I love mine, but it is what it is. When I need 500 watts I would prefer a system like the large one I already have over a Passport anyway. Regan

I checked the specs and the PD 500 weighs 3 lbs LESS than the 250. Kinda surprising.

Magicsoup is right. It's surprisingly light. The key thing is I don't know how well it will compete with systems that are as powerful (or more) but have much larger speakers. I bought a pair of Carvin 15" powered speakers with a Carvin 8-channel mixer for $200 - $300 less than the prices I'm seeing on web for the PD 500. (I've seen $1,299 to $1,399.)
While my speakers each weigh as much as the entire PD 500 system (each speaker weighs 51 lbs.), they are 350 watts each (total of 700 watts) and they put out tremendous low end. I'm sure the PD 500 sounds good but I've yet to see speakers with a pair of 8" woofers have anywhere near as much depth as speakers with a single 15" woofer. On the other hand, if some just needs additional power in a compact, lightweight package, this system may be worth it. Michael |

Wow, that being the case, I may change my mind. The PD-250 is quite a bit heavier than the PD-150, so I assumed a PD-500 would weigh more. You know what happens when one assumes! I should have checked the specs first.

If you need a bigger system than the PD-500, then you'd have to be an illusionist and working huge venues.

The 500 also comes woofers. That is more of a musical PA system. I would not advice it for a magician.
