Snippet:
"[the crooks] also kept asking Copperfield to empty his pockets, but he refused, according to the report." ... and they caught the kids (17 year olds) a few moments later. Full details: Details ... at least no one was injured. And WOW, David is 49? It seemed like just yesterday I was a kid watching his Alcatraz special on TV. Jason |

Whether you're the world's most famous illusionist, or an average joe citizen, THIS is why conceal carry laws are practical, and life saving.
Anyone in the situation as it was described (and in Florida among other states), would've been justified in shooting to stop the action. I'm glad David, Cathy and Mia are alright. I FEAR how close the three of them came to dying. Robert

From the article:
Quote:
Riley also kept asking Copperfield to empty his pockets, but he refused, according to the report. That has got to take some balls pulling some sleight of hand at gunpoint... |

Robert,
THIS just shows that some brains make conceal carry laws redundant... David proved that shooting was not necessary to save his, Cathy's and Mia's lives. Had he even just tried to pull out a gun he would be dead by now. D |

Nice point David ... John Wayne marksmanship is for film not real life....

David,
What do you mean had he "tried"? The criminals gave ALL THREE the opportunity to pull a weapon. (ie: Give me your stuff..., and they reach for their stuff) And cardone, CCW, has nothing to do with John Wayne. CCW is real life mate. But as I previously stated, I'm glad they're still alive. Robert

Robert,
I guess the three of them were more intelligent than some other people. They decided to use their brains and stay alive! I also agree with Cardone. CCW has nothing to do with real life, and it scares me to think that there are people out there who do not realize that. At least we agree on something: We are glad they are still alive. D |

Robert, I'm pro CCW (in fact I'm packing as I write this), but do you remember Copperfield's gun handling skills during his "Super Jumbo Sidekick" card routine a few years ago? He had a blank firing 9mm which he handled like a squirt pistol. I saw it live and was worried the blowback was gonna take his magical little thumbs off. Let's all be glad that Mr. Kotkin ain't strapped until he takes a few gun saftey courses.

Chase,
Being from the state of Arkansas, I'd hope you're pro-CCW! Got a good chuckle at your post! Robert

I have heard the 911 call and on the call, his assistant said that the thieves got away with his passport. Do you think that he might have just been using this opportunity to turn the story from "Copperfield gets robbed" to "Copperfield fools robbers"? I am not sure if this is the case or not so if someone knows more, please correct me. But I guess it is pretty good PR for him.
