Effect
The performer hands out a brass bodied padlock, familiar to just about everybody, and four keys. From this moment, the performer does not touch the lock or keys. He asks the spectator to find the only key that will open the lock. All four keys are tried, but none of them will open the lock. The performers then says, "That's because I've got the only key that works." He then gives the spectator this fifth key and it opens the lock. The open lock is then locked onto the spectator's finger ring, jacket buttonhole, etc. and the keys are mixed up. The performer then says that he will use his powers to try to influence the selection of the correct key. The spectator chooses a key, and this is discarded. He chooses three more, which are also discarded, leaving just one. He tries this key and the lock opens!

Features
• Performer NEVER touches the lock or keys during performance
• ALL the keys are different
• Lock is a large 60mm padlock, which opens with a "clunk"
• NO false moves at all (after all, the spectator has the lock!)
• Precision internal mechanism ... resets in one second!

I recieved this this morning direct from Wayne Dobson after hearing his praise I am very very happy with the quality of the lock and the special something which makes it all possible.

It really does 'do exactly what is says on the tin' the strength of the effect will depend soley on the presentation there is nothing to worry about with the props.

I am a huge fan of my Murphy's chest effect however this is far better suited to my table hopping set as near to perfect as you can get.

as if you couldn't have guessed I am very very happy today with this arrival now for the price £130 I guess about $200 a lot of cash and in a way I am happy that some will say 'thats way to high' for the fewer people that own this the better lol

as for the service from Mr Dobson - the same as the effect!!!

you can find this on the website http://www.waynedobson.co.uk

take a look at the dtrik range!!!

Ash

These are no longer available, as they were individually produced by the late, great, Mick Hanzlik.

Watch this space for a special announcement regarding an updated homage to Mick's SupaLok early 2019 : )

A happy new year to all!!

IMO the best and cleanest Baldpate effect out there. Any update on the homage?

Hi Judah,

we are still field-testing the prototype and deciding whether we should add a couple little nuances to take it up a notch or two, or stay aligned to Mick's original concept.

Hopefully we will be able to make a decision before too long Smile

I had this effect from a UK locksmith ... give me time to re-collect, and I will be back to you on this one.

This was an effect created by a master locksmith in the UK.

It was called "Wonder Lock" and was available direct from the locksmith himself.
However, this is now sold through magic suppliers.
Forgive me, I can't remember the locksmith's name.

Routine:
example: 5x£20 notes (or whatever) are placed within a clear plastic sleeve, which is secured by a solid brass lock, held by the assistant in full view.
A single key is shown to unlock the holder.

This key is placed inside a glass, and mixed with other keys.
Whoever has the key to open the lock keeps the £100.

The assistant holds the locked item in plain view whilst every spectator tries their key.
However, it is at the performers discretion when the lock opens - ie 2nd attempt, last attempt.

A real worker for the stage performer - an act in itself.
Nothing to go wrong ... lots of potential.

Packs small, plays big.
Everything can be examined

PM me for any questions.

Hi wulfiesmith,

yes, this was another lock produced by Master Locksmith and creator of the SupaLok, Mick Hanzlik.

https://www.magicshop.co.uk/wonder-lock-professional-quality

Wonder Lock was very good but not at the same level as his SupaLok, or new model Grismer Lock, which is now produced for us to Mick's exacting standards by the very talented Jordan O'Grady.

SupaLok ...
Not being critical, but I am thinking if it is always the last key, then I favour the Wonder Lock as it offers more presentation value as the performer has control when the lock opens. ...

eg. at any time the spectator can change keys with the performer.
The spectator can choose to try the lock ... exchange keys with the performer and try the lock ... or have the performer try the lock.

The performer always gets the correct key at any time during the performance.

I have never used it, as I need to find the right routine.

Could someone point me an a direction for a good routine?

I realize this is an old thread, but did some research on the SupaLok, as I intend to add it to my set. I was not totally satisfied with my routine and want give a BIG SHOUT OUT to saysold1 for your book recommendation (https://www.stevensmagic.com/shop/locked-jim-kleefeld-book/)! Excellent book! It got my creative juices flowing and have since developed a nice routine. THANK YOU!
