My last three or so posts (see "Its Not Magic ...") have not increased my total number of posts. What am I doing wrong? Yes, they were legitimate posts.

It looks like your last few posts were in the "It’s not magic, but..." forum, and that's why they weren't counted. As of a couple days ago, posts in the "non-magic" forums are no longer being counted. These forums include:

• the entire "Welcome" section
  
• all of the "Let's make a magic deal!" forums
  
• the "It’s not magic, but..." forum
  
• the "Looking out for our own" forum
  
• the "Bad Post" forum, where all the bad post reports are now sent
  

While all these forums serve a useful purpose, they are not meant for discussion of the craft, so posts in these are not counted anymore.

This was done to tighten up security a bit in the Banquet Room forums. New members will not have their post counts increased until they have made 50 legitimate posts in the magic related areas.
