Hey guys
as some of you know, I have been performing magic for a few years, but I just recently started performing with my little brother. it's good experience for both of us, I think. but the problem is he's still really nervous on stage. I'd like to do a talent show in june with him, and I want it to be a comedy theme. I thought a lot of things could be wound into this, and I already have some ideas, but I was just wondering what ideas you guys might have for this kind of thing. any ideas are appreciated. thanx!

What have you got in mind, snap? If we know where you're coming from, we might be able to put out some ideas that tie in.
One thing I find gets a GREAT reaction is an egg beater for mind reading. Wonderful prop. |

Hey, laurie, and you're right. I thought I'd play up the whole sibling rivalry thing, I want it to be a two person act, going back and forth.

Look at the husband and wife teams as they are normally the best duos. Rich Moratta has a DVD out about his two man work.
I feel the best and funniest husband wife team out there is Tomsoni and Co. even though one of you aren't a woman you can still learn. Also, anything you can find on Khole and Company and their act you will benefit GREATLY from. (I feel the best was is to learn from the pros:) Now that I said that heres an idea.............. I believe it was Harry Anderson who started it but you say you rivalry, you could do some type of an escape competition routine. Even if you don't have a strait jacket you can escape with ropes out of a chair. The funny part comes in when you wrap him all up in ropes and you put yourself in some cheap handcuffs (but make them look hard to get out of) now when you see that he is winning kick him over on his side in the chair and pull some stalling slap stick moments, soon this will make it all the funnier and more triumphant when he wins!!

Siegfried and Roy would be great to take a look at, too. Friendly competitors. Siegfried takes off his jacket and Roy says,
"Always trying to steal the show." |
