Pulling teeth out of spectator's mouth (Drowned Alive)

It has been performed on David Blaine's latest special, Drowned Alive.

I have a dentist appointment tomorrow. Not only do I hate the experience every time but she doesn't even do card magic.

For what it is worth I thought the effect looked great! The people watching were blown away. That is all that really matters isn't it?

David Blaine has to have some stuff stooged - I mean, c'mon, whats he going to do next...levitate like friggin' 2 feet off the ground? Really!

This was invented by my best friend in the world Tim Moore. Tim called me about 4 months ago and said that blaine had called him (through cavney) and asked if he would be able to "put something together" they brainstormed and this is what Tim came up with. It will not be on the market or anything like that..one time deal!

I agree that it looked great and completely astonished people which is all that counts. I went to the magic shop the day after the special and they said that everyone was asking for the effect. I think everyone has their own theories on how it was done which could be completely or partly right. But it probably is not a marketable effect for the reasons that most people imagine that the effect is done. Wether it's his own original or not, I think we can all agree that all magicians on TV (as well as ourselves) are guilty of performing effects that we have not created. Either way, it's definitely something that most people have not seen and were amazed by so what do I think about it...."GREAT ******* JOB MR BLAINE" *hats off.

I wouldn't call the tooth pull "amazing"

I would however call it "stoogerific".

Looks like there is going to be a whole new market for ex-hockey players - especially attractive female players.

Tenyo put out this effect back in the 80's. I think it was called "Tooth Remover". For me, it was a toss-up between that and the plastic finger-chopper. I chose the latter, so to this day I still have no idea how the tooth thing is done. Possibly a duplicate plastic tooth?

Actually, I'm looking forward to Ellusionist coming out with the Black Tiger Teeth (limited edition).

I got a great reaction with it last night...

I took a black plastic tooth shell and loaded it onto her tooth (working on improved version doing two front teeth at same time). I have a reel in my mouth with the thread running to the tooth shell. When I pretend to spit, my tongue actually releases a lock on the reel and the tooth shell flies (invisibly, as it is so fast) into my mouth, where all is now hidden under my tongue.

I call it THE TOOTH FERRY.

I am unaware of this effect. Can someone explain the effect, I mean the spectators point of view?

Blaine is in front of a restaurant/casino (?) where he borrows an "onlooker's" wine glass and bites off a chunk of it, chewing then swallowing. The wine glass is handed out for examination.

He then asks the same "onlooker" (female type lady gal) if she'd like to see something with her teeth. She agrees and David reaches into her mouth and pulls out a single tooth. Blood is seen, and the woman begins to rub her tongue where her tooth once was. Before she has a chance to scream, David visually blows the tooth back into place (like the quarter bite) and all is back to normal. He then goes to other people in the crowd, with his fingers covered in blood and acts as if he is going to do the same trick to them, with his bloody fingers, and everyone freaks out (a lot time was spent on this part, of course).

The female was an obvious stooge- first he uses her glass, and then he makes her tooth disappear. Her reactions were horrible - amazingly sloppy stoogedom, IMO.

Someone comes up to you for no apparent reason, you reach into your wallet to procure the .50 that it will take to get rid of him, he then proceeds to remove your tooth. You then receive the check you are entitled to for your pretence. America is stunned by the "Magic". Perhaps Belgium as well, but who has time to pay attention to the lesser folk?
