As some of you know, I have known Rick and worked with him on various projects in the past... but unfortunately, I can't claim any credit for "Homicide"! That was Rick's brainchild, and Rick's alone. I must say, however, (trying to be as objective as I can), I've been using this book test regularly and I love it. There are several new book tests out recently and many are very good.
What puts Homicide U.S. in a class by itself, IMHO, is that not only do you NOT have to peek a page, or know the page number (which is not necessarily a bad thing) but every single word in the book is a KEY word and they are all different! It is incredibly fair to ask the spec to freely choose ANY page and focus on ANY word. (Just so you know, there are no page numbers in the Homicide Log book!) |

The Homicide U.S. Log Book is just as Michael and Gabe says it is above. It truly is terrific, unique and in a "class by itself". The thinking that went into this is superbly creative, and from a "real world" point of view. This is made by a person who loves mentalism and looks at it from a "layperson's" perspective. Like, "how would I want to see and experience something new and original". Well, this is it.

Did I mention the "personlized" service that comes along with this and the other products from the outlaw site ?

John,
I also concur with what you stated, not only in terms of the uniqueness of U.S. Homicide booktest, but in the personal care and attention that Rick provides to each and every order and customer. Rick's personal service and unique and entertaining products are refreshing and should set the standard to other dealers and creators of fine magic/mentalism effects. Best regards, Michael P.S. I hope your paintings are doing well.

Thanks Michael for your kind words. The paintings (and the interest in them),are experiencing a new "renaissance period" now with the recent focus on everything DaVinci.
Creativity is a miraculous thing. In the art world, and in mentalism. Best to You John |

Rick,
Whitechapel seems to be a very good "booktest" and would would great in conjunction with Homicide U.K. version. Any plans on making a similar companion booktest for the U.S. version of Homicide? Michael

Homicide U.S. is circa 1953. One of the cool things about Manhattanville is it works as an instant force for any female customers. As soon as you know the customer was a female you can disclose that they were later murdered (without the spec ever disclosing their name). I'm ramblin now. Rick |

Rick,
Thank you for letting me and everyone know about both Manhattanville and Whitechapel. I was not aware of them until now. I think they both will make a great addition to anyone's routines and both Manhattanville and Whitechapel will work independently. However, I think they would work better if used in conjunction with their respective booktests, U.S. Homicide and U.K. Homicide. I will be ordering both Manhattanville and Whitechapel from you and I can see using them immediately with the U.S. Homicide and the U.K. Homicide booktests that I currently own and use. Best regards, Michael

I've had the opportunity to use Homicide and the Manhattanville pawn shop book together, and it allows for a great double revelation.
Not only do you describe the details of the person and the transaction that took place, you disclose the unfortunate fate that befell the person (murdered) years later! All without ever having to know the name of the customer! IMHO, it is truly the next generation of book tests. |

Having recently purchased one of the Complete Outlaw Packages US version...I anxiously await it's arrival.
I find it quite enjoyable to read all the Positive comments, especially from many members whose opinions I respect and can relate to. Everyone that knows me realizes that I am a collector of old things, anywhere from vintage to antiquity. So these items are truly a natural for me personally. Also being a New YAWKER,it should be quite easy for me to enhance my storytelling. I did a little research, and there is still a Pawnnshop on 125th St.in NYC.It has been there since 1947,so maybe.....??? . This just gets better and better. Rich |

Manhattanville and Whitechapel are shipping. These are the "sister" books to the Homicide U.S. and Homicide U.K.
Both of those books are stand alone effects but.. both are FORCE books for the Homicide female victims. All the females in both Whitechapel (pawnbroker log U.K.)and Manhattanville (pawnshop log U.S.)are murder victims in the Homi books. Jheff from Marketplace of the Mind was kind enough to review Homicide on his site. Jheff personally reviews every item he sells which is unique among retailers. Thanks guys, Rick |

Just sent in my order.
One of the things I really like about this is that it gives a reason for a book test -- I've seen some folks sell booktests to audiences in a wonderful way, but in the majority of cases I'd imagine folks come away saying "why couldn't I pick any word on the page?" or "why couldn't I just think of a word?" (please don't beat me up over these ideas, just my own personal views...) Believe Rick's approach will help me get past these concerns... |

I received Homocide US.This is an amazing work of Art.
I happen to have some experience with repairing and restoring old items,so this type of thing is right up my 'antiquity alley'.In other words,it is in my interest zone, not even considering it's Magical application. This is a well thought out creation, and I am not just referring to the asthetic qualities.I also am impressed by the hidden details, that could easily have been left out..but were not..and that is the combination that elevates this to a uniqueness among effects of this kind. I humbly admit that I do not have the expansive knowledge of some on this thread, but I do know 'Special' when I see it.I also can recognize something that was labored over to create something that Truly LOOK'S OLD. I look forward now to Manhattanville. Best. Rich |

The most potentially creative aspect about this book is, what comes out of the experiences of sharing it and performing it with others . Everyone seems to have a different way of looking at it. The responses are so broad, original and intense that a separate journal should be kept afterwards for referencing the performance of it alone.
For those that have this, you already know what I'm getting at. This isn't just mentalsim, it's a whole new kind of psychic theater that will reach out and grab each participant in multiple dimensions. As this is a way into the mind (imagination) at an angle never really tried before in such a unique and timely fashion. Maybe I'm revealing too much here. But do I feel strongly that this deserves the right kind of attention, now. It shouldn't be overlooked by any of the serious veterans in the field. John |

John is correct - Roth has hit one of the elusive key harmonics of magic that run through all its fields with these items.

Dr. Spektor, a very good way of putting what Roth has accomplished. I didn't plan on buying Homicide as I essentially prefer to work as "propless" as possible. I'm glad I decided to be flexible and take a risk.
Homicide is so well executed (truly an unconcious pun) that it transcends what I would typically consider a prop. People enjoy simply looking at it. I defy anyone to not pick it up and look thru it if seen on a coffee table or desk. What a great lead in for a casual performance without having to say much at all. And in formal performance the Homicide book's very uniqueness provides all the reason anyone could ask for to include it among demonstrations of paranormal abilities with no need to justify its inclusion. The drama that is built into the effect is very powerful in and of itself. The ability to expand on the murder in so many different directions and to add my own "take" on what occurred is extraordinarily stimulating. This "key harmonic" as the good doctor calls it has led me to revisit many of my effects and storylines to see what implications I had failed to see and apply. In this way, Homicide is not only a great effect but a lesson on aspects of presentation that often fall by the wayside. I can't wait until Manhattanville arrives! Good Thoughts, Bill |
