Riles, you're right, this is what children need. Also, adults with children attributes should also be able to have reading comprehension skills.
Let's analyze your sentence in a way in which you'd understand mmkay? Quote:
I don't [b]like American Idol[b], that doesn't mean I had a [b]bad day singing[b]. The mirror in the bathroom did crack..... Now, unless you admit your last sentence was completely irrelevant, then I would be right. Do you understand riles that the more you try to sound smart the more incredibly stupid you become? You know when they say "If you can't do it 100%, then don't do it at all?" You get my drift riles, or should I bring it down to a 3rd grade level? |

I just wish Blaine would perform some actual magic more often. He should go back to a full hour of just magic. I am bored of his stunts and most of the people I know (lay people) think they're stupid and pointless.
That said, Blaine was one of the reasons I got into magic in the first place. |

Alright Jasix, you have bored me enough.
Magic is doing improbable things with odd items that, under normal circumstances, would be unnessecary and quite often undesirable.

Never criticize someone else until you have walked a mile in their shoes. Then, when you do criticize them, you will be a mile away from them and you will have their shoes.

It's not his fault that people are thinking that magic also involves the performance of stunts...Before David Blaine was even popular, I've had people say "hey, what are you houdini or something?" because that is a wideley recognized name in magic. It's also not as if David is going out there and saying "all my stunts are magic", he isn't, he's doing them as "stunts". I'm not sure where you going with this. I'm going to school to become a filmmmaker, and when I was younger, and told people of my dream, they said "ohh...a little spielberg". I think this effect applies to hundreds of situations and it's a common thing we can't do anything about. Do not blame BLAINE, as remember, he started as a Street Magician and nothing else; so how are you to say his stunts take away something from other street magicians? |

It seems as if magicians for some reason are dissing him because he's on T.V. and that the average person recognizes him over almost anyone else. I...like everyone ; beleive there are other magicians that deserve Television time just as much, or more than Blaine, but there's no reason to not classify him as a magician just because your mad he got t.v. time before many other great magicians. |

For all you "Blaine Haters" out there, just read his book "Mysterious Stranger". You will soon find a new found respect for him. I used to HATE the guy, but now he has my utmost respect. I still don't care for his "persona" that he uses on TV, but hey, it works for him. As for a performer, he is a heck of one and he has come a LONG way. If you don't believe me, read his book.

David blaine is a great magician ,but an even better perfromer. He takes known effects and makes then into amazign feats of magic. See, most people may not like his stunts, but in all his shows there is always real card magic, not like cris angel ,where he doesn't do that stuff. David Blaine is the amn, face the facts!

I think Blaine is now in the business just for money.... in 2005 he made 6 million dollars from ABC. And I agree with rambam about the real card magic, david does do a lot of good tricks but since his first show hes slipped into being a stuntman more then a illusionist.

I live in NYC and I have visited each of David Blaine's New York City stunts and I see where the guy may be possible to dismiss as a magician/escape artist but I really think he is now pretty grounded in the performance artist mode. There is something rather electric in the air around his stunts and "Drowned Alive" was no exception. It was beautiful to view at night and brought such a diverse audience to Lincoln Center to marvel at it. I shot some interesting video of the event that you can view below.
But don't watch Blaine in his bubble...watch the faces on the audience. There was magic going on. http://darkartsmedia.com/Blaine.html |

As Paul Harris mentions in his essay on "astonishment" in Book One of his series, folks get into a strange place when they can't put magic or magicians in boxes. Blaine continues to confound with his refusal to fit into a "magician" box provided by those who would like to put him there. I struggle with it myself, but continue to watch him. |

Here is the thing about both Blaine and Angel.
They are both GOOD for magic. Here is one small example. I was performing for a guy awhile ago. He told me he once hated magic. He told me he never would have watched anything I was doing if it had not been for David Blaine. I had a great spectator that night and he loved my show. I have Blaine and Angel to thank for that, so it really does not matter what I think about them. |
