Hi All,
This is a post on How to Charge, not how much. I was wondering whether most people who work resteraunts / parties charge per hour, or per evening? |

I charge per hour...but that is do to the fact that some nights there just isn't enough customers to entertain...but others we are booming.
I actually have two seperate billing "packages" by night and by hour.

I'd suggest charing by the night. Otherwise, when it is slow, the manager will get in a habbit of sending you home early, and over time, it could really cut into your paycheck.
Also, on the slower nights, it's fun to spend a lot more time at the few tables that are there, because you can really get to know the customers a little better, and you might have a better chance of convincing them to come back and bring their friends if you have a little more time to talk to them. |

Charge by the night, absolutely! You are there for a set period of time and the establishment has contracted with you for that period of time, which you have set aside, thus losing the opportunity of taking other bookings, spending time with your family, attending lectures, classes, etc.
So charge by the evening, by all means! Lee Darrow, C.H.

Charge by the night!
Lee is right, when it is slow and you leave early you will loose if you charge by the hour. I am talking from experience. But if you have to charge by the hour, get an x amount minimum you feel comfortable with. Just in case there are slow nights.
