Dynamike,

I have the PD-250 and I like it a lot. I compared it to a P-250 when I was decideing which PA system to buy and the PD had better sound. I was told by the sales rep at the music store that this was due to better speakers.

It was worth the diifference to me. I am a professional musician and I needed a sound system for smaller gigs, so I went with the PD-250. I didn't even consider the 150 size so I won't really comment on that. I have heard many say that the 150 has enough power, but for my needs I wanted the 250.

Is there some reason you are not happy with the P-150?

I was happy with it but the problem is it got stolen from my van last week. They also took my Shure wireless headset microphone, backdrop, dj system, camera supplies and my chest and case filled with magic tricks. So I got to start over again. I want to pick the best choices this time.

Mike, there's a similar thread here regarding the Passport vs. the Yamaha Stagepas.
I suggest you REALLY take your time to see if the Yamaha is not better for you.
It has much bigger speakers and I'll bet it sounds better.

I use the PD-150 and was told that the PD series vs. the P series was also a BIG difference. The PD series also has "anti-feedback circuitry" which helps (I think) with wireless headset type mics.

To not steer you off the track of your original question of this thread.
The answer is YES a BIG BIG difference in the sound betwen th P and PD series in both sizes.

I could go on with a lengthy paragraph of a blind test we ran including different new products but the simple answer is that you will notice the difference in sound immediatly.

I did notice that thread, Frank. I love how the passport packs into one. I still have my battery and converter from the P-150, (hope it works with the PD-250). I never used the battery before because I would still need electricty for my Shure transmitter. I noticed you mentioned a Gim-Crack in another thread. I looked it up and noticed that would be excellent to use while performing while the passport in running by battery with no headset microphone.

Is there a battery for the Yamaha Stagepas?

Dynamike. Get the wireless microphone module that fits INSIDE of your passport and YES the battery pack powers all.
The battery pack direct connect to the Passport is awesome. It seems to run forever.
If you wish to use your Passport battery pack, don't forget it has power out connectors for your Shure as well.

Check out using power inverters. Using this method you can use a 12volt car battery or a much smaller rechargable car charger and a power inverter (check for the necessary amps you need to draw).

http://www.donrowe.com/inverters/inverters.html

here's one website.

with this type of setup you can just plug anything into it that is AC.
and it comes with several outlets for your amp and mic.

It looks more complicated than it is.

I've used this setup for outdoor shows and it work very well.

I was really wanting to get this as well, for convenience but the price was $200 for the wireless mic. and I thought the price was too high for that quality of mic.

I keep going back and forth. Unfortunatly, that costs me money.

It sounds complicated also. It also sounds like a good idea for the passport system. If all of this cannot be done with the Yamaha system, the Passport seems better.

Hey,

I went an inexpensive route in adding a battery pack for my wireless system. I used "AA" battery pack, consisting of 8 "AA" batteries, and it works really well. The best part is it didn't cost very much. (About $8 for parts since I already had a dead AC adapter for my receiver so I could use the connector from it.)

If you want details, let me know.

Michael,
Send me how yo rigged this up and what you are using in the microphone etc. I am ready to go with a decent sound system as my old one is giving up the ghost. I don't need the carvin but something like the passport and I want a wireless handheld mike. I see too many guys beating up their lav mikes. I am used to a hand mike but would just like to lose the the cord.

All this can be done with the Yamaha system.
All you really need to make any AC system work on battery is a 12 volt battery and a power converter. that's it.

Fender just sells this and adds a huge markup in price.

I saw breakdancers using this type of setup on hollywood blvd. to drive their boom boxes, etc. they even used a plain old car battery as their 12Volt source.

go down to the auto parts store and have them show you a emergency car charger and power converter. they will tell you all about it. a lot of people use them to power their players on boats. or camping, etc.
