I had the opportunity to see Tom demonstrate "Child Play" some 70 to 80 times at this past Abbott's Magic Get-Together and he only missed once. Unfortunately I do not wear wristwatches but if I did I would definitely buy one. While watching Tom work I came up with and shared with him six additional ideas. Hope you can use the ideas.

Tony, thanks for the good feedback. I guess the fact that I missed means I should practice with it more than just at a magic convention. Usually, I am way too busy at my job and with making magic props that it is tough to find time to actually practice. However, those are pretty good odds for not practicing much at all.
I will definitely work on some of the additional ideas you shared. |

Here is my concept: Has anyone thought of putting RFID technology into a wrist watch? I had written Fabrice about this awhile ago, but never heard back. If RFID tags were hidden inside 5 bottle caps (each cap a different color) or 5 differently-colored pen caps, then you would not only be able to tell in which hand the cap was held, but the COLOR of the cap too!
Labco has just released a very strong antenna that appears to look like a wrist band that perhaps could be embedded inside the band of a watch. If the electronics of the RFID reader cannot fit inside a nice-looking watch, then the electronics could be hidden further up the sleeve, but attached by wire to the underside of the watch band (wireless would be great, but probably impractical, except for the CIA). As for the readout displaying the identity of the object, a small number (or dot next to the numbers on the watch dial) could be indicated (via a LCD light?), coding the object. Simply glancing at the time would tell you a wealth of info! I know this sounds like a lot of complexity simply to be able to discern the identity of an object hidden in a hand, but imagine, for example, a "chipped" (or "tagged") deck of cards (or simply ESP cards) and the miracles you could do with this "Psychic Watch." (Reading the watch face for cards would be reminiscent of the old Deland Deck!) ***"All rights reserved."*** (Yeah, sure--just give me a good price break if you decide to make one of these.) Good luck! CM
Details make perfection, but perfection is no detail.

Chrismatt actually, I had thought of using RFID tags back when I first thought of Child's Play II. The main reason I didn't use it was I couldn't find any readers that were small enough to put in a watch. If you now of any sources for any kind of small RFID readers, please let me know, and of course... I would get you a price break!! If you can provide such information, I will let you know what I can come up with whether it is a watch or some other method.
Thanks! TomK Rick, it was Q, not M. I am Q junior. |

I have just received mine and it does look very good.
I cannot see in the notes that come with it, but is it always 'on'? Looking forward to trying this with Scorpian. Piers-yes it is always on just the same as the watch. The battery is not drained any by being on.

Played with CP 11 a little more now.
This is a real 'makes me smile' effect. It is so simple to use, so covert, so clever. Excellent! Thank you for the kind comment. CPII is indeed one of those devices that make you want to smile. There are only a few effects that I feel make you want to smile. I love it and not because I am one of the developers. The other effect I especially like is the Mikame Heart of Gold locket effect. It works so slick that you just want to show everyone how it works. Of course I do not but it has that effect on me. Ron |

Can I ask what objects people are using apart from the listerine box? Is it possible to use a coin?
Looks like a great effect |

I am the builder and co-creator of Child's Play II, so I am working on ideas for this effect constantly. I am in the process of getting a couple of very strong magnetic coin samples, and I will let you know how well it works. I should have the samples sometime within the next 2 weeks. I am hoping it will work well enough for use with CP1 and CPII. Another very cool product is The Scorpion (Makibishi) with many reviews here: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......9&71 Of course, K&F Productions cannot be held liable for any damage or injury using these products, but several people have reported great success with their routines. Check it out. |

Hi TomK
Thanks for that You know you really really want to make these in UK £1 coins as they are quite thick I'm interested in any updates. |

Jimesw,
Thank you for that information. I will compare that to a typical Ike dollar for thickness. now I can't wait to see the samples!! Tom |

Jimesw,
http://www.outlaw-effects.com/outlaw/art......mp;pg=95 has a coin, The Relic, that will be available at the end of April. I suspect this coin will work well with Child's Play 1 and II. I will know once I receive mine. Tom |

We just tested it again (with only the ma#n*t) and it picked it up from 6-7 inches away.

Rick,
Based on my test with the silver pieces and ma#n*ts I have here, I don't think the silver will affect the range very much at all. So this will be quite the combination!! Tom |

Will you be able to tell if it's a heads or a tails or will you need to use the original method for this?
You might say reality is the result of complex negotiations between the observer and the observed. But that is simply a point of view.
Many Thanks Garrad |
