Hello everyone,

I am developing a manipulation routine using balls and cards.
I want to use classical music but have no idea which songs are good for the act.

I am looking for music like the one that Norbert Ferré uses in his current act.

Thanks in advance!

Well, it really depends on your style and timing. The best thing to do is to go to a library and check out some cds (most will have them). Give a listen and envision what your act would be as it plays. Your best best is a cd with multiple composers.

You may also want to talk to someone who also plays classical music. They can view your routines and suggest music that will flow with it nicely. It's all about the rhythm.

Now do realize that although classical music for the most part is royalty free, you still have to pay royalties on the recording for the artists who played the piece. Often just asking your local classical orchestra to use their recordings will reslult in a yes without having to pay a royalty.

Another way (I could be wrong on the legal issue, but take it as you will) is to get a keyboard with those demos programmed in. They definately won't sound like an orchestra but you can easily mix different songs as they are usually short demos.

I am able to experience new music by listening to the music stations from my Cable provider as well as my Satellite TV provider (Direct TV). They play commercial free music 24/7 and provide artist/album so you don't have to guess what is playing. Knowing which song or music to use is totally up to the performer. Hopefully the piece will "fit" the routine and the performer takes advantage of any cues embedded in the song. I love listening to new music and sometimes I record a music station using my DVR so I can fast forward and rewind as needed. Good luck on your search!

What about using some of the CDs for magicians that I have seen on a different website. I have never heard one but they are all recorded to be used in magic acts. They might be a good resource for you. I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time.

Thanks a lot for the tips.

Does anyone knows what music does Norbert Ferre uses?

That's a medley of instrumental music from "Fiddler on the Roof". Personally, I don't care for it the way he is using it. (I imagine it as '70s gymnastics or ice skating music.)
