I wonder if you guys received the same effect I did cause I think this is great & the instructions are excellent . I had people screaming with this today ! simple push you pinky into a stump NO angel problem at all if you display the pinky the way the directions explain looks weird this is one I will use ! the method with the Fu***c is better ! Easier handling if you start with the stump & just pull it back to normal .

The angle I problem I mentioned was in relation to the outstretched hand on a table. In that context there is most definitely an angle problem if you're performing for numerous people at the table. I suppose I now understand how they were suggesting using the Gypsy story but that seems completely unneccessary if you're staring with a full pinky. In fact to me it takes away from the trick as it makes it clear it's just that. A trick.
Just say you've got a messed up joint in your finger and do the bit as you crunch down on the macaroni. I'll bet that sound effect ups the impact of this effect dramatically. Very smart thinking.

Ok for what its worth ... another review.
I wanted to reserve comment until I had used this a few times. Gotta say it I was a bit dubious but it actually works fine! It is one of those things you just throw in as a 'momentary' bit of weirdness. The key is not to make too much of it and spend 5 minutes telling a bizzare tale that builds their expectation too much. Truth is it has actually been quite strong and people do not know how you were able to do it. The timing of the routine and a good amount of practice before performing is critical. Some tips for constructing the G. For me none of the colors supplied were pink enough. I used some light pink pen or nail polish to get the coloring more accurate and its definitely worth spending some time making as close to a perfect color match with yourself as possible. If you do this you will find the 'stump' looks quite disturbingly real. I used some light pink felt pen shading plus the color sheet supplied to make mine and it is very realistic. I also added a small border of lighter color where that naturally appears on the real one (those who have this will know). I made mine up with the Paul Harris part on it and found it to work fine that way. I did glue an extra layer over the Harris part to secure it more firmly. I find this more convenient and easier to manage than the alternate method. Also spend time in front of the mirror to really understand how to present this thing. At one point I lay my hand across my heart showing the stump and say 'I solemly swear I'll be more careful with knives in the future...' Gets a laugh and some screams at the same time, the display is very clean and freakish looking! Play it as fun and fast paced and this is actually good value! I was worried it wouldn't fly at first but after trying it I realised it actually fascinates them and no one has noticed the method (I think they just don't care its too much fun!). The freakish look of the display just seems to shock them too much to think about it. The only danger I believe is if the G is in the wrong position you could get busted but this is easy to get around with a bit of attention to detail in practice. Another comment I would make is this is not a beginners routine and will take practice to get the timing and angles to create optimum effect. For the price its a good bit of business. Cheers, Al

I was disappointed with this product. The quality of the instructions is so bad. Just a bunch of photocopies not even attached one to another. After buying Torn, The Daniel GarcÃa Project and Strange Travelers I really expected more quality from a Paul Harris presents product. The gimmick is unrealistic and although it may work using the correct presentation I believe it is far from what I imagined the effect will look. I don´t think I will be using this frequently.

Even if the color match is not perfect, the spectators are not focusing on your other fingers..they are focusing on the stubby one.

As the manufacturer of this effect and one who has already performed it hundreds of times I can tell you that it has never failed to elicit a jaw dropping reaction from every single lay person who has seen it. I have been in magic for over 50 years and I have come to realize that, with years of experience in performing, my insights into the psyches of my lay audiences are quite different from those of magicians who have only been doing this for a relatively short time. Many times I take it for granted that all magicians understand the nature of discrepancies...how to see an effect through laymen's eyes, and how to use that insight to fashion a routine that will deliver the desired audience reaction. A video demo of street performances will be posted very soon so that everyone can see just how powerful this effect is on lay people. In the mean time heres some clarifications on the psychology of this effect from a layman's perspective. This effect should not be presented as, "Hey, look at the new trick I just learned!" Rather, you should give your audiences a logical reason why you can physically do something that they can not. I tell my audiences that I jammed my little finger playing football in high school and now I can do this. The nail is not the critical feature of this effect. It is the final convincer that you really shrunk your little finger to half its size! The visual shrinking of the finger is the part of this effect that leads your audiences down the garden path. For this reason when I turn my hand over to show the back side of my hand, displaying the shrunken little finger with the nail in place, I only maintain this display for about five seconds before I "stretch" my pinky back to its original size. Five seconds (or less) is all that is needed to convince your audience that your pinky has really been shrunken. During this brief display no one will ever notice any slight discrepency between the pinky nail and your other nails. They're too busy gasping at the weirdness of your little shrunken finger. The position of your other hand holding your shrunken pinky will be quite logical if you say something like, "If I don't hold it in place it will pop right back out, and that hurts like Hades!" Finally a bit of acting on your part as you shrink your pinky goes a long way to sell this effect. Grimace as you shrink the finger and let out a sigh of relief as you stretch the finger back to its normal size, thus letting your audience know that this is a physically demanding action for you. Remember you are displaying a rather bizarre personal physical anomaly, not doing a magic trick! If you do this effect as described in the written instructions and add a bit of your own personality you will be thrilled with the results. I know I am! "Try it! You'll like it!"

Great post Yendor, agree wholeheartedly especially the short display. Its true that laymen as so freaked by the image they see, with only a short display they do not even begin to notice discrepancies. For those who still doubt, it DOES elicit strong reactions, I have done this 100+ times now and as skeptical as I was in the beginning - I soon learned layman lap it up! Just make sure you get the angles right in practice and it will fly nicely.
