So, Daffy's Big Adventure??

Why not test the waters locally without giving up your entire base of operation? Work it into your show. See if the reaction increases your business.

At the risk of him lurking the Café and seeing this, I know of a guy who missed a golden opportunity to walk onstage as Howdy Doody.

At least you took the steps to be honest with yourself. Inventory of your assets is a huge step toward success.

Mr. Baker took the words right out of my mouth but said it much better than I ever could.

If you abandon your dream, you will always wonder "what if?" but if you at least "test the waters" you will know whether or not if the dream is a nightmare.
Most of us go through life wondering about a passed up opportunity never knowing for sure if we did the right thing or not.
Take a chance but a calculated chance and do what Mr. Baker suggested. Give it an honest try without burning all of your bridges that way even if it proves not to be lucrative your losses will be minimal.
Good luck with your quest.

I don't know how much money you would really make, but I would do it in a heart beat. No questions asked.

Pre-heartbeat. But test the waters. get a LOCAL make-up artist (not some beutician) to do the deed on your mug. Take some head shots.

You are NOT going to make 300 grand. But you will have fun! You can also BUY your current med insurance thru COBRA.

Run away...join the circus...but be advised...you will be offering a One Note character.

I know . The word TYPECAST has crossed my mind many times in bright red flashing letters since I have been thinking about this.

But on the other hand, if people allready think I look like him, then maybe I was BORN typecast!

About a year ago every one said I looked IDENDICAL to Harry potter and I did. found a contest for harry potter look alikes and I got my entry in faster to meet the deadline I could have won a few grand (which is a lot when I was twelve). it is kind of funny being a good magician that looks Harry Potter.

any way go for it. even if it is a little embarising....it still sounds like you could have fun with it

Right, first off I had to do a search to find out why this guy was being called a pervert by some posters. Pee Wee Herman is not that well known here in the UK. From what I've read his offence is not a major issue that is likely to effect your chances of success; if you were a Gary Glitter look-a-like (a well known singing hasbeen and pedophile) you might have a bigger problem. If I was you I'd go for it and make some funny reference to his crime part of the act.

I agree with the people saying stay--but try to market it--don't move just yet. It's ok you look like him, if you can make money from it--you are not prostituting your soul, but entertaining. (You won't be performing in a movie theater seat, so don't worry). I don't beleive 300,000. Especially for a character not the likes of monroe, elvis, brando etc...

Try to get headshots and market on it!

Ellen

PS) If you did move--how far would it be?

An alternative suggestion would be to approach his film company and offer your services as a stand-in.

Want to know the really weird part?

When I got out of the Air Force many years ago, people mistaked me for Doug Henning! (yes, I was doing magic at the time, but they thought I was him because of my face.)

now fast forward many years later, and this same face is being mistaken for Pee Wee.

Does this make No sense? If A=B and A=C, then B must also equal C, no? that means that Doug henning looks like Pee Wee Herman! (Or even worse, Pee Wee Herman looks like Doug Henning. And i, Daffy doug Working look like BOTH of them! talk about your split personalities! Geeesh! Are you laughing yet? What's wrong with this picture??

Anyway, I kind of wish I had stayed with the Henning look!

Folks, it's Paul Reubens, aka Pee Wee Herman.

I'm the spitting image of this nerd! (Except he has a litte more hair, but a hair piece can rectify that.)

Are you saying you look like Pee Wee Herman the character or Paul Reubens the man who plays the character?

I'm not going to offer any advice one way or the other, I just want to know so I can put a face to that faceless avatar you've had for over 5,000 posts!

Ok. Genii grants your request. Here is my face. Only it's not actually me, but a mirror image that is in reality Mr Reubens. (The one on the right, BTW, in case you are wondering!) Go here:http://www.cherrycapri.com/photos_bubbles/paul.jpg

And that's the truth, folks.

I know what Reubens looks like. And yes, that is a photo of him and whoever that is to his right.

I still say go for it. You're not being asked to impersonate any of the top five most hated people in the world.

This would of been put to the ultimate test long ago had you, within the first dozen posts of the now 5K, used a real photo for an Avatar at the Café. Had it been close enough, they would of deleted it and sent ya message that no celebrity pics are to be used.

After seeing the photo, I'd say go for it. You said you can do the voice. Can you duplicate his mannerisms, too?

Yeah. that's the silly, foolish part I was talking about from the start. He prances around the stagelike a fairy!

But I can do it.

One thing about Reubens...the first arrest, for wanking in a theatre, is potentially a source for comedy gold if you are willing to mine it. The second arrest isn't ... but the cops did drop all charges for child porn and essentially admitted that he didn't have any as I recall. So he kinda just got the shaft there.

And I also have to go with the thought that $300Gs sounds pretty high. You might want to place some calls to the theatre and find out what you might REALLY be earning.

Look at it this way... he wasn't ashamed to do it. It's a character, and all but the world's clueless understand that.

If you went to a Halloween party completely in costume, so that your identity was unknown to everyone, you probably wouldn't hesitate to "play the part", whatever it was. It would be fun, and liberating yourself to that extent is actually good for your self-esteem (not saying you lack that). People who takes this kind of a step end up showing themselves that they aren't afraid to let go, and that it actually feels good to do so.

Most people that witness such a display would really love it. Those that don't are either jealous, or anal. Just like performing magic... we can't worry about the ones who refuse to have a good time.

Just a little FYI, there is a magician in Branson who does a PeeWee Herman immitation. I'm not sure if he does this in shows, or it's just something he does for fun. He was at a small convention I attended a couple of months ago, and he does a rather convincing job! Face is not an exact match, but mannerisms and voice sure are!

How did the crowd respond? Did they seem to like him? Were they "into" it? Was he a hit?
