Well, once again, I've been dilly-dallying all day, hanging out on the Café site and wasting time. Now it's 3PM local time and if I want to leave here at 4:30PM I need to get this bid entered and sent out for quotes. Can I do it? Normally I would say it's a 3-3-1/2 hour bid. But I'm pretty good under pressure.

Can I do it by 4:30 or will I have to stay late? I'll let you know in an hour and a half!!!

I'd place the odds at even money for getting it done.

I know, know. Right back to my old ways!! But I got it done, using my super secret estimating system. The envy of every estimator in this God Forsaken industry.

It was either finish this bid or just chuck it and hit the road with you selling Svengalli decks. I'm not sure I made the right decision! Maybe tommorow I'll chuck it all away. But for now, I'm outta here!!

Vandy:

Estimating? Is that some process by which you calculate the total labour and materials necessary for the completion of a given project, factor in an amount for overhead, another for profit, and thus determine a selling price to offer the client?
Tsk, tsk, tsk. Clearly you're not familiar with the Griswold system -- which I thought was required course work for contractors of any sort.

I'll bet you've seen this one: National Lampoon's "Vacation," in which Clark Griswold, stranded with car problems just outside Hopeless, Arizona, asks the mechanic how much it will cost to fix his buggy.

"How much you got, boy?"

Estimate, shmestitate. Go sell Svengali decks Smile
