While some of the obvious stooges are annoying, I don't believe EVERYONE in every trick are stooges. And I think a lot of the reactions are nothing more than TV camera over-reaction... the "Hi Mom!" complex.
Two of my brothers have bands in which they are the lead singers. I've seen people (girls mostly) act TOTALLY different when they get pulled up on stage. I have to respect that he is an artist. He knows how to appearl to the 14-24 crowd. He's no Copperfield who had a 30+, upper-middle class appeal. He's a down and dirty, gritty younger generation magician. He gives the XBox, movie special F/X overloaded, attention deficit kiddies what they want... Overall, I'm impressed with his ability to entertain them. To me, that's one of the hardest audiences... the "Been there, seen that" age group. I DON'T like him giving away secrets that aren't widely available. Let's face it, there's few things worse than doing a trick and soemone starts loudly explaining to the crowd how it's done. |
