I must admit I'm curious about the Mason routine, but, honestly, I have never seen any routine good enought to cause me to abandon Kenner's, which I use quite a bit.
Call me a purist, but I like a no-gimmick 3 fly. Examinable and much cheaper. And if you do that last coin just right, people will absolutly love it. |

I am not the man to buy this (there is no way I could afford this), and I too love a no-gimmick 3-fly (perform it constantly).
However, I saw Mark at the national SAM meeting last night. He showed me his routine with his gaffs. IT WAS AMAZING! I feel like I am rarely impressed anymore, but I was extremely impressed with this gimmick and routine. It was entertaining, suprising, and magical. I think Mark has done an excellent job with this amazing gaff and constructed a wonderful routine. Kudos to Mark. FC |

Ok I am quite fond of three fly, however the very weak point in every routine I have seen is the vanish of the last coin, can someone give details of marks routine of the last coin vanish and reapperance, does it look just as magical as the first two coins travelling across.
also when is there going to be a proper video demo of this routine the one on jbtv is hardly a demo. |

When I asked Mark before a demo was released, he said he was working on a demo, but that it would only be snippets. Its a shame in modern days that Magicians feel they cant show a full demo, as some magicians just watch demos to figure effects out. As for my manuscript for my routine, it is hopefully set for a relese of Saturday 15th July.
All the best Chris |

Check out Mark's None Gimmicked Version on his real world magic DVD. That is a really nice straight forward no gimmicked version.

I agree, the version on his dvd is plenty sufficient for real world performances.

Ok, I will say that the last coin is visually stunning. He holds out his open palm up left hand and you plainly see 2 coins. This sounds funny, but the position of his left hand is that of a karate chop (the best way I could describe it in words) - what I mean is his fingers are extended and his thumb is out (as if one were reaching out to shake someone's hand, only palm up). He crumbles away the coin in the right hand. When I looked back at his left hand (he never moved his hand - not even his thumb) there were three coins. Now he showed me the handling of this and it is something unheard of.
The sudden appearance of the last coin in the left hand by far makes up for the closed hand vanish of the last coin in the right hand. People are so surprised by the impossible arrival of the last coin, they would never think "oh, he never had the coin in his right hand to begin with." FC |

Making the appearence of the last coin more the focus (rather than the vanish) was also a strategy employed by R Paul Wilson, I believe. (and it reminds me of Ammar's quote when teaching cups and balls that "once people see the object re-appear, they stop thinking about where it went").

Can you after each fly from one hand to the other show the required amount of coins in each hand, without any sleight of hand etc?

Daren - What you are really asking is "is it real magic?"
For the price, I'd say yes. |

Is it possible to perform this routine slowly or do you need to perform this fast?

Have just watched the video of Come fly with me. What a joke, does Mark seriously believe that anyone who has not seen this trick performed live would be prepared to pay £220 pounds. When I see magic demos like this it makes me think what have they got to hide. Looks like it was filmed in a broom cupboard. https://vault2.secured-url.com/jbtv/home.asp

Ok, I agree, the online video is more of build up than it is demo. However, I have seen this live and it is amazing! Perhaps the originator just doesn't want an online demo (it is his decision). Maybe he's just too busy (national IBM, national SAM, FISM - all back to back) to do a true online demo. I guess the proof will be in the reviews when the item is available for purchase.

To all those PMing me and emailine me, I shall clear up a few things on my manuscript. It was all ready to go on Saturday 15th, but then a couple of technical faults lead to problems in printing. Since this, a friend has looked over the manuscript and a couple of changes are in order, before a re-print is made. Not long to go now!!!
