No, you need the metal spoons I supply. However Murphy's does have a spoon effect where Plastic Spoons bend. The only downside is that the replacements for the plastic spoons are fairly expensive.
Besides NOBODY will be impressed when a plastic spoon breaks in half (especially if it has bent) Plastic spoons break all the time and part the strenght of this effect is that the metal spoon breaks and is then examined. |

Tophatter,
The gimmick that is used with Autobend is similar to the gimmick used in Erez's Perfect Bend. However, that is where the similiarities end. First of all, the bowl portion of the spoon provided with Autobend is larger than the one provided by Erez in his Perfect Bend thus making the bending of the spoon in Autobend more visual and pronounced. Secondly, and more importantly, what sets Autobend lightyears apart and ahead of Perfect Bend is the detailed manuscript that is provided with Autobend. Erez's Perfect Bend only came with a single sheet of vague, non-specific instructions, void of any real handling techniques. Whereas the manuscript provided by Devin Knight in Autobend is 8 pages and contains numerous color photos of the handling and extensively details ever nuiance and subtlety in properly performing this rotuine. In addition, Devin Knight teaches how to do his Two Spoon routine where two spoons bend and both spoons can be examined at the end. The Optical Bend is also taught in the detailed manuscript where the spoon is seen to continuously bend while in the spectator's hand. These moves, techniques and routines are not taught in Erez's Perfect Bend's one page instruction sheet but are thoroughly explained in Autobend's manuscript. Even if you have Erez's Perfect Bend spoon, the manuscript provided with Autobend will definitely enhace your performance and routining plus you will get the proper sized spoon. For $29.00 you get a properly sized gimmicked spoon, an ungimmicked matching spoon and the detailed manuscript with full color photos. It is a very good bargain. Best regards, Michael Siegel

Tophatter,
I may have only patially answered your queston pertaining to whether or not the spoon can be examined after the bend. If you do the regular routine, the spoon can be examined after the switch is made. The switch is very easy and is taught in teh manuscript. If you perform the Two Spoon routine or even the single spoon routine but end with the spoon breaking in half, then the spoon(s) can be examined afterwards without any switching. Best regards, Michael Siegel

I have Perfect Bend.
So if the gimmick is the same, then I assume it's also very angle sensitive? |

Devin Knight V.I.P. 2493 Posts |
I don't think my routine is angle sensitive at all. I do it regularly in the restaurant all the time with no angle problems. Anyone else who has my routine think this is angle sensitive? Well maybe to a certain extent with the Optical Bend you want someone in front of you, but still the angles aren't critical with it either.
If you do the Autobreak routine with a single spoon, and it bends, then breaks, you have virtually no angle problem. Devin More reviews should be forth coming in a few days. Tilford just sent out a huge amount of orders for Autobend today and many people have PM to say they will post comments after they get it. Stay Tuned.... I appreciate the support that everyone has given this trick so far. It's a bit lower priced than most of my items. I wanted to give everyone a good trick at a fair price and I think the Autobend Routine fills the bill nicely. Thanks again everyone. Devin Knight |

Neither Perfect Bend or Autobend is angle sensitive as long as you naturally hold the spoon even with your finger tips. If you do the single or perhaps even the Two Spoon routine with the breaking in half routine, you an do Autobend surrounded. However, you cannot do the single spoon routine without the breaking in half part fully surrounded IF you intend to give out the spoon for examination after the bend unless you can switch the spoon while being completely surrounded.
Best regards, Michael

Tops,
You are most welcome. If you liked the basic concept of Perfect Bend by Erez, then you will without a doubt really enjoy Autobend and the more detailed and comprehensive instructions and various routining supplied by Devin Knight in the manuscript with full color photos. I have always enjoyed getting Devin's effects such as the Prediction box, etc. since he really spends a lot of time and effort in making the instructions as detailed and thorough as possible and presents in based upon his many years of professional use of each and every item he markets. How many times have we purchased an item whether it be for $20.00 or $200.00 and only received a single page of instruction sheet that is vague about the proper handling or routine to use. Devin has always provided in all of his effects, and Autobend is no exception, with a professional manuscript that should be the standard. Best regards, Michael Siegel

I just needed to clarify a slight mistake I made in my previous posts. I had mentioned that the manuscript contains color photos. I was referrring to the PDF file that I originally obtained. The PDF version that I initially received contained the color photos. The actual hard copy of the manuscript that I just received contains black and white photos, not color. However, the black and white photos are crisp and clear. I assume for $29.00 it would be cost prohibitive to make color photos in all of the hard copy manuscripts. I still highly recommend Autobend for the reasons I mentioned previously.
Best regards, Michael

I am planning on doing Autobend this weekend. I was wondering if anyone else has already tried it.

Hi Michael,
I am intersted too. I was wondering if the pdf file is available to the public? Or we just get the hardcopy? |
|||||||||
Devin Knight V.I.P. 2493 Posts |
PDF file is NOT available to the public. ONLY sent to a few people I implicitely trust prior to them getting the hardcopy in the mail. It's just too easy for someone to send a PDF file free to all their friends. Especially those who own Erez perfect bend without buying my version. For that reason the PDF is not available.

Phil,
I received the PDF file since I ordered this effect before the actual hard copy of the manuscript was available. I subsequently received the regular hard copy. They are exactly the same except for the fact that the hard copy of the manuscript has B/W photos, not color. Best regards, Michael

Hi Magicbuilder !
Just 2 questions: - How do you start the effect Autobend: with the spoon already held in the hand, or with the spoon on the table ? - How big is the gimmick you have to hide in your hand after (and before ?) the bend is done on the spoon ? Thanks, Olivier |

Devin Knight V.I.P. 2493 Posts |
You can start with either the spoon on the table or in the hand. You really have to hide nothing in your hand after the bend, as it goes into the autobreak routine where the spoon breaks in half.
