Hi guys, I have recently been intregued with all the hype about Mark Masons 3 Fly, and the problem most people see is the final coin. Usually there is some sort of jump back to get you in position for the final coin, or a closed fist vanish as in Kohler's. The problem with this is that 2 go across visually and look amazing, but the final coin doesn't, and this was the problem I tried to solve. In my version, ther are no jump backs or invisible travels. Each coin is clearly seen at one hand before jumping across, no covering up the coins, and no little gags to get you ahead, and no jump backs. I am looking for about 5 knowledgeable people who own the U3F to try my handling and let me know what they think, thanks

I was asked to look over and give my opinion about Christopher Williams NEW handling of Bob Kohler's U3F.

There is no doubt that U3F rocks! But, the vanish of the last coin could be a little better. First let me say that Chris has solved the issue of the last coin! Now you can fully show the last coin which gives the complete routine a well balance ending. All three coins are shown at the fingertips as they vanish!

Chris has made the last coin vanish fit in with the rest of the routine. WOW, U3F now has a real magical ending!

This new handling of the last coin really brings the effect up a notch. This new handling of the last coin adds to U3f and brings it all together into one heck of a killer routine!

U3F has been called a Worker by Michael Close and that was why I bought it. I have use U3F for a few years and always got a great reaction but never was really crazy about the last coin. If you have U3F then you know what I am talking about. But with this NEW ending everything looks and feels good.

Working with this new ending feels natural and there is no funny moves or closed fist. Everything is out in the open and at the fingertips! I really like this new ending. It is simple, easy and totally kills!

Chris, you did good! I am impress with your handling of the last coin.

Chris also shared the handling with me. It essentially was an alternative handling for the last coin.

It is a good and valid alternative ending to the routine if you do not like the bluff vanish suggested by Kohler. Back in 2002 I made the very same recommendation in THIS POST. Marc DeSouza is also one prominent magician that came up with his idea. I know that ends the routine this exact way. So the ending Chris suggests is also liked by others. I have shown this to Bob Kohler as well.

I personally tried this exact ending for a while because I thought that the jump back was going away from the ultimate goal (all coins traveling to the other hand). However, eventually I found I got a much better reaction with the jump back in. I don't know why, but people always react strongly to it. Chris Kenner mentions this fact in his writeup too, and recommends not to take it out for the same reasons.

I have since gone back to the jump back and bluff vanish as originally taught in the Kohler routine.

Nice to see folks still working on making U3F better. It's great to see how the routine can be changed to fit different styles and solutions to different phases.

Mark Masons solution looks great in his hands. He's put a lot of time and effort into his routine. Since U3F has been off of the market for over two years, Marks routine will certainly be a great addition for anybody looking for a professional solution for a Three Fly routine.

Dan showed me his handling which apparently is the same idea Chris is using. It certainly is a practical and well thought out alternative.

Whenever I get around to putting out the next upgrade to U3F I'll be including two more ways to bring the routine to a much more stunning ending. I'll also include a few more surprise applications...

Thanks for the great response Ray, it was also fun exchanging several other ideas. Since working on this, I have been performing it almost 15 times a day, sometimes more. The handling and effect kills, so mainly to that, I thank Bob. I have also now thought up a way and handling which I have tried since yesterday where the final coin is seen in the hand, vanishes and appears at the other hand, and the other hand is seen completely empty. Thanks to everyone who tried it out, and gave me great feedback, don't forget to let me know how it goes when using the handling, all the best

Ok sounds good. It looks like a lot of magicians are getting very excited about this and the ones that have actually seen it done are giving it a 2 thumbs up. Can't wait!

I also have the U3F, is interesting to hear you have new final move. hard to wait you release.

This comment is probably made out of ignorance, but I don't see why a solution to the last coin seems so elusive. If you have an extra coin and the ability to sl*** with one hand, isn't your problem solved?

My thoughts, especially as its not too hard to go from fingertips to Dr. Roberts position to sleeve in one motion

I learned the Roberts move and had some help from the likes of Wesley James and Lou Lancaster... yet I have not suggested this approach as a "best fit" for a reason. If you can do the one handed vanish ( either of Geoff's or mine (see September Genii) then do the Roberts thing as a cleanup after... you have something workable. It's really a problem of WHEN to do what they think is the obvious answer. My gut still says use a pull.

I agree that a pull would do the job, as would a holdout (Kepplinger style would be the best), or sl***ing.

Agreed Larry, but it (handling for the third coin) will be usefull for me as I don't wear a coat or long sleeves....
