I really love your character. How long did it take you to get it to where it is now? On your Sylvester pitch video you go from Sylvester the Jester to Dan Sylvester do you live your everyday life as Dan? What was your interview like with Magic Braodcast did you portray Jester or Dan in the interview? would you consider allowing me to interview you on my show for magic broadcast?
Im Excited for any response you are truely a living legend, John

Wow those are good questions, Ill try my best to give good answers!
As far as my Character goes, Ive been doing it in some form or another since the Early 90s but before that the real beginning was the first time I worked as a clown in around 85. I think that was the beginning. So 21 years! Do I live my everyday life as Dan? No... I live my everyday life as the Emperor of the universe... Well whoever, exactly Dan is I live my life mostly as him with Sylvester popping in and out at the most embarassing times. Sad to say as far as the magic braodcast interview went. I can hardly remember it. I think I was walking around in a bookstore while I was doing it by phone and have hardly thought about it again until now. As far as other interviews go. I really think I can do a better job of them now that Ive had my Brain and spinal chord refurbished. Actually I recently did a very very thorough <probably misspelled) interview in written form that allowed me to really get into the meat of my performance carreer. So the answer is yes Id be happy to do another interview with you but just don't ask me to recall it all in a year or two. Living ledgend? Me? Okay, but Im probably more like a living fossile. Im the Ceolacanth of magic. Thanks again, Dan Sylvester "Idiot Extraordinare" |

To Actor Scotty and Daffy doug,
That is an excellent question actually but Im not sure you will like the answer. To save on money, I have hand built everything myself in my garage. Also I frequently go with out a lot of stuff. Like food, descent housing, medical coverage, and relationships. I rent the tiny house I live in from a very kind fan, who keeps my rent low. The house is very small but its got a fullsize garage which is a constant wacky factory of half baked and half finished failures and a bunch of minor successes thrown in. Plus I rarely ever have good luck when it comes to having someone else make something for me. Mostly cause I don't know what I'm makeing until its finished. I don't know how to use a sewing machine though and so when it comes to something that I cannot sew by hand Ive gotta hire someone. But here is an interesting story on that. After haveing worked a year in Korea with Kevin James, I got home with brand new Ideas for a new jacket. I had found some cool materials in Korea and had reworked and altered my existing jacket and and wanted to get someone to make me a professional finished version. A woman I knew recommended this Gal who lived a couple towns over so I went there with my "model" jacket, some drawings and the materials. And told her I had a TV show comming up in Paris and needed it to be done in 3 weeks. She did it in one week and then said it would be $1500.oo dollars!! Plus she had to tear apart the jacket I put togeather. Reluctantly, I paid her and then afterward she wanted to know if I would spend the night with her.. I said no you've already screwed me once and I didn't like it. Over the next few months I was often getting the Jacket Dry cleaned and the Asian lady who ran the place was often making repairs on the jacket. So one day she said in her strong accent, "How much you pay for jacket?" Embarassed I lied and said I payed $500.00 dollars. She said, "You Silly man you pay too much! I make better quality for $300.00!" I went and got her all the materials and she made an almost identical jacket for $300.00. I tell you this story cause it shows how big of a range in prices there is out there. But its always cheaper to do it your self and then pay yourself nothing! Dan Sylvester |

Is "Ceolacanth" a new word, one you made up that defines a living animation, or should I just stop asking silly questions and go buy Webster's "Newer" Collegiate Dictionary? A Ceolacanth is an example of a living fossile. A fish that looks as if it is sprouting leggs. It was thought to be extinct and thought to have died off millions of years ago but they are still alive. It found in the Indian ocean off the coast Madegascar. Its a thing that is not suposed to exist but it does.
Got to look it up on the internet. |

Try "Celeocanth". The fish that prefers to remain anamalous.
Back to you, Dan, good to have you here.

Dan, you have been a breath of fresh air to magic. A truly original act. What I like about you is that you started with a goal to appear just like a live cartoon with all the explosions, effects, distortions, animations, no restrictions....and then you figured out and invented ways to make that happen. It seems that no concept is too far out for you to make happen....we applaud you!
