What are, in everyone's opinion, the best false shuffles?

Not trying to sound rude but all of your first posts can be answered with the search feature.
1)Sal's discount code can be found in Bluff Magazine. 2)Favorite false shuffles, there are plenty of topics here. 3)How can you order Ian's TS&B. Just contact him via his site or PM him here. 4)Up the ladder & push through, again do a search. Thanks, SS

You don't sound rude at all, I'm sure it gets annoying when newbies ask the same questions over and over. Thanks for the help.

How bout if he wanted to search for it he would have the first time. I myself find it easier to not look through pages of crap usually filled with comments like you just wrote.
Zarrow is one of the best. I'm not a big fan of the push through. it seems to me that most people know what it is. and I think that just one clean simple shuffle(zarrow) is much better than a shuffle and a cut. what kind of shuffle do you need? table riffle or like in the hands?
you can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all the time but never all of the people all the time.

In 37 years, I've seen very few "clean" Zarrow shuffles, even by so called "experts". I contend that most people would think "something just happened" upon witnessing most Zarrow shuffles. A properly executed push thru shuffle wouldn't even be recognized

Thanks Nicholas.
I second you. In the last 15 years I have witnessed many Zarrow attempts, all weren't that good. With push thrus you can go fast, and IMHO they are much more convincing. By design. |

Retaining the whole deck in a prearranged order is seldom or never attempted, or even desired, at the card table, as someone named Erdnase once remarked.

I don't do strip outs. I've seen very convincing ones anyway, performed by Z if I remember well. When I started to learn false shuffles I wasn't really excited by this move. I think PS or Zarrow (when perfectly done!) are much more powerful and offer many more applications.
I use PS mainly to subtract cards. If you want, I can post a video about it. |

The trouble with a general question about 'best' false shuffles is that it depends what you require from a shuffle. Is it to be an 'in the hands' riffle or a slop type shuffle, overhand shuffle, overhand chop etc. How about the tabled riffle shuffles? Are you attempting to keep the whole deck in order or just one part of the deck? A good deal of these blind shuffles are covered well in Erdnase 'Expert at the Card Table' where I recommend you start if you havn't already done so. Recommended DVD's would be Steve Forte's Gaming Protection set and Damien Neiman's Fast Company.

Certainly. What we need is context if we are to talk sensibly about these things, and just saying for the card tale is not enough.

Arnold, a vid from your password protected site? just kidding.
Although it sounds interesting. I have seen strip outs used for false shuffles, but rarely to retain full deck. Although the mighty z can do it, at least better than Darwin.

To answer your question in asking me what is the best false shuffle? The best in my opinion is the false shuffle I use most often and that is the triumph shuffle when I am performing the trick called triumph that is in the stars of magic.
As Paul H said above and I agree with it depends on what the performer/dealer is going to use it for. As Tommy said and I agree with that retaining the whole deck at the card table is seldom attempted. In my own opinion only magicians might need to shuffle a stacked deck and need full deck control for some trick using a stacked deck. The triumph shuffle is a table riffle shuffle that can retain the order of a full deck. It is in the classic book the stars of magic. It can also be used to cull and stack poker hands for demonstration. The push through shuffle is also a false shuffle that a magician can retain full deck control. It can also be used to cull and stack poker hands for demonstration. The best write up of the push through (that I have read so far) and information on how to use it for block transfer work - stacking and culling is in the book Revelations by Dai Vernon. I hope this helps.

I like push-through then strip-out. I am yet to see a convincing Zarrow. Even Zarrow's Zarrow is not convincing in my opinion.

If I may add - I like the push through shuffle. Jack Pyle was the magician that showed me how to do - and use the push through shuffle. I have video of him doing it at my web site - it is after he spread culls (sets) the deck up for a variation of out of this world.
He sets the deck - (spread culls) the deck right in front of the spectators and then does the push though shuffle - then he goes into the trick. I hope this helps.
