Remember the infomercials when these were on Video? For a beginner-intermediate performer, they are excellent.

These were really great for every magician, not just the beginner. Larry has such a nice presentation style that makes these simple tricks look like real magic.
I already own Video tapes of these, now that they are out on DVD I will upgrade my set for that easy access to each trick section. I think there was a fifth Jawdropper video as well on the folding coin, this I haven't gotten and I don't see it listed as being out on DVD now. |

Larry was involved with the Maek Wilson magic book. He's a super nice fellow, very knowlegebale and did a first rate job on the videos.
I fogot about the folding coin video. I wonder if they'll release that at a later date.

I love the Jawdroppers videos. I'd recommend them to anyone and will probably buy the DVDs to replace my aging videos.
I did have one issue (which, if Larry is reading this, will probably make him blow his top again): on the infomercial and in the performance part of one of the tapes, he did an ashes-on-arm effect that revealed uniquely personal information about the stunned audience member without benefit of a c***** t***, p***, or anything I was familiar with (I ruled out elaborate preshow work because that's clearly beyond the scope of these tapes). BOY, was I interested in seeing how he did it! Curiously, the INSTRUCTIONAL part of that effect only taught ashes-on-arm with a card force, not with personal information. When I complained on another forum at the time, Larry answered me and told me how he'd done it. It is NOT something available in the vast majority of performance situations, and I felt a little suckered by the infomerical showing the "personal information" version but only teaching a card force version. Still, there are so many other practical effects taught on these tapes, and taught so well, that perhaps I shouldn't have let this one "sucker" aspect of the infomercial leave a bad taste in my mouth. --Josh |
