I just received a set of the shells that Andrew Pinard is releasing called "La Maggiore". These are molded after "Italian Walnuts" and are MUCH bigger than the standard shell.
These were the shells that such greats as Mike Rogers and Frank Garcia preferred. However the actual shells are VERY hard (if not almost impossible) to find. Andrew tracked them down and sent me a set of the real shells to look at. I have to say that the cast resin shells he just sent actually look BETTER than the real thing, which was excellent in itself. These shells are stunning and by far the best shells I've seen. Wow. Although I do consider Andrew a friend, I have no financial interest in these and did not even know he had sent them. When I received the package today and opened it up I said "WOW". I instantly called Andrew to thank him and to let him know how delighted I was with the quality. Apparently Andrew has sent out the shells to such names as Bob Kohler, Gazzo, Bob Sheets, Harry Anderson, etc. and they have all raved about the shells, which is understandable. If you have ever thought of doing the shells, BUY these and if you do the shells, BUY these. I am not sure of pricing, etc. but you can contact Andrew directly at ajpinard@absomagic.com Also check out his site as noted on the box http://www.threeshellgame.com/ I can tell you though that the pictures on his site do NOT do the shells justice. They are great. Thanks Andrew. Great job. Tim Trono |

I just looked and the exact dimensions are on Andrew's site noted above. The other more standard shells actually fit INSIDE the ones from Andrew.

I just posted this under a separate topic, but feel it merits repeating here.
Let me say I have no interest in this business or product and have not even met the owner. I want that known up-front, since I am about to rave about the product. If you are interested in a three-shell routine, this is the definitive set to buy! It is superb. The weight and size make them very easy to work with. They look and feel real. Everything about this transaction was great: the product couldn't be better, the documentation is clear and ample, and the packaging is classy. Customer service was also top-notch. They shipped immediately and stayed in communication by both e-mail and phone. Usually, I am either neutral, or slightly disappointed, with magic props I order. Not in this case! It merits a rave review. One small issue: routines for the shells are not included with the set. But, neither are they with the other brands I have bought. I include this just so you will know what's coming. Check it out at http://threeshellgame.com, then get this set!

I unfortunately do not have the La Maggiore shells. I noticed that on Andrew Pinard's site it has a success story of someone modifying the shells. Are there any other success stories out their of modifying these shells?
