I just found out about this new arrivals thread (joined earlier this week). I live in the Kansas City area, which is blessed with two magic clubs. I performed some magic as a teenager, and after too many years away from it, my daughter got me back into it when she asked for my help in putting on a magic show. Now I'm more into it (again) than she is! I kept hearing about the Magic Café, and I'm pleased I finally took the plunge and signed up. What a great resource! I look forward to learning a lot, and sharing what little I know.

Hi All,
I just found and joined this forum, so this is my first post. I could not find out how to just post a message, so I am 'replying' to this post. (Is that the only way to post on this forum?) I have been doing magic for about 20 yrs. but only part-time professionally for about 10. On a scale of 1 - 10, I guess I would consider myself at about a '4' in magic knowledge and skill, I still have a LONG way to go, and lot's to learn. That is why I joined this forum. I probably won't post much, but will be 'all ears' to learn from everyone here. I live in S.GA., in the S.W.corner of the state - NO magic happening down here. But the good part is that there is NO competition! The bad part, is that the only magic connections I have is my Linking Ring magazine, and these electronic forums. I miss the Atlanta club (Ring 9) where I was 'weaned' in magic before I moved down here. Enough talking, I can't wait to start reading posts!!! Les Lonsdale |

Hi, Les!
I had the same problem, trying to find where to start a thread. At the top of the forum index, in what looks like a heading, it says "Post New Topic". Click on that, and it lets you post a message that isn't a reply. I would have sent this as a private message (PM), but I didn't know if you'd know how to access that yet. As for magic connections, besides this excellent resource, do you attend any magic conventions? I'm going to the SAM national convention, and I'm looking forward to it with great anticipation! Welcome to the community, from one newbie to another! -Phil in KC |

Welcome both of you to the Magic Café!
Yes, on the top, left hand corner, you should be able to see a button that says, "Post New Topic"...I believe it is red and orangy... Good Luck! Tanner |

Hey Phil, welcome to the Café. For a minute there I thought you were Phil from US Toy.

Hi, e-inc! No, different Phil -- but I was at the recent Daryl lecture at U.S. Toy, if that's where your photo was taken. Since you're in the area, you might want to check out the big SAM magic show coming up this Saturday, June 24. There are two shows, 2 PM and 7 PM, at the Roeland Park Community Center, 4850 Rosewood Drive, Mission, KS. It's a 2-hour show, a benefit for the widow of L.C. Collier, one of KC's best-loved magicians. The tickets are a bit pricey -- $15, but all proceeds go to the widow -- everything for the show has been donated.
Hope to see you around! -Phil in KC |

Hey Phil, yep, that's where the Daryl picture was taken. I actually was looking at going to the SAM show, it really does look good. I just have to see where my finances are. I just paid college tuition for the fall, so I'm a little short.

Well, I've looked all over this site, and still can't find a "post new topic" button. Not that I'll probably be using it anyway. Most likely, I'll just reply or comment on other's posts, or just keep browsing and reading.
Thank you to all who welcomed me. I'm amazed at how many have joined since I have in the last few days!! Wow, this is a popular site. Les Lonsdale |
