The most common way to get such a picture is a plain old Super-X. This is the device used if you have seen the girl floating on the sand dunes at the beach or in the middle of the street. Now, practically, everyone present when the photo is taken knows how it is done...but for publicity photos no one cares. The available support may not be great if you need to float a 200 pound guy however. that would take some custom welding. You could, by the way, use this device in performances as well, as long as all the stage settings were correct.

I would also recommend the Super-X. Magic Magazine actually had a whole article about the history of the super-X, along with great photos of all the top performers using theirs, most of which were taken outside.
A super-X is great for publicity photos. I would also recommend purchasing Mark Wilson's Illusion Video Volume 3, Suspension Levitations. This shows tons of great ways to use the illusion, including ways to do it for publicity photos and even a way to do it surrounded. Check it out!
