There has been a lot of talk on this thread as to how not to play against a Monte mob.
There is a crew working a spot near me lately. I've spotted at least 4 of them, as they are out there a lot -the respectable looking white girl was a bit of a revelation. The tosser has a few tells to those who know how to look. Now, is there any advice as to how to bust their game that doesn't involve calling the cops? Is there a way to beat them? The threat of violence is not an issue in this hypothetical situation. Assume we are all black-belts and are wearing bulletproof vests.

Oh mate! you've opened a can of worms there. Without a doubt you will now receive a hundred comments shredding you about never being able to beat a monte mob. They will all be true. Don't even try after the advice I've been given.

Gaddy - I think there potentially a way to beat a monte mob but playing three card monte isn;t one of them.
The first step is to get a mob that is bigger, meaner and stronger then then the monte mob! |

Beat the monte mob??? this sounds like george devol getting together a bunch and trying to expose canada bill jones? Oil and water don't mix but oil and oil and water and water. in my opinion monte mobs r hustlers. and the opposite of a hustler I don't know is it a sucker????? so if a person wants to expose a monte mob I don't know what to call them do you guys have any opinions?

Maybe if you could somehow blind them all (thats a different magic trick...) and then quickly swap the deck of cards so that they are all the right card...except if you're going to do that you might as well blind them then steal all the money and then levitate as far up as you can so you are unreachable. You might also want to change your identity too lol...they know where you live!

1. It's illegal in every jurisdiction that prohibits fraud. Three Card monte is a form of fraud. Most countries also prohibit unlicensed gambling.
2. Once they get you involved and you put down your money, it'll be gone. You'll either lose or they will yell "cops" and run away with it, or they will just steal it from you, or if you're really unlucky steal your wallet. You're dealing with criminal thugs, no matter how we romanticize their skills and lifestyle. |

Cigarettes kill more people worldwide every year than anything on earth (30 million people worldwide but it is legal. I think 90% of the people in jail were under the influence of alcohol or drugs when they committed their crime but alcohol is also legal. The casinos and lotteries which are nothing but rackets have beat people out of untold billions of dollars but it is legal. These things prove to me and anybody with common sense that legal doesn't mean right. Also you have Monte/shell workers on all levels. If Donald Trump shakes the broads on Martha Stewart for 1 million I don't think he is called a criminal thug. In my opinion, you can't cheat a honest man and only a sucker tries to get something for nothing because after all if the sucker wins he isn't going to give the Monte man his money back. That's my opinion!

Legal for sure does not mean right, I'm with yout there, but whilst the sentiment "you can't cheat an honest man" is a pretty romantic ideal, I'm not sure how correct it is, especially as if they don't cheat you through the game, then they just nick your wallet for being interested and lingering nearby...Similarly, you can have integrity and be a con man, at least that's what the basis of the series "Hustle" is. I'm perfectly sure you are correct that "you have monte/ shell workers on all levels" though.

Silverhawkins, take it from a cop, you tend to lose a lot playing or performing it. We have had to arrest the victims of this scam because they lied to us and said it was a robbery. In Georgia, what makes this crime a misdemeanor or a felony is the amount taken. As I mentioned in one post, "Intent" of the tosser is the key to probable cause for making an arrest. If you want to learn it, please do so for entertainment and educational purposes only. Listen to those who have given you advice in this thread. They are wise and know the consequences of this.

There is a old adage, "necessity is the mother of invention." I"m sure the Monte/shell, etc., were invented out of necessity. Some people needed money. I wonder how George Devol and Canada Bill would feel about how people are learning the Monte/shell game today???!!! I know I am right I don't care what you all say. You should never give game to a lame. Game is to be sold not told. All people are doing today is pulling suckers coattails that is my opinion! Hope I don't step on anyones toes. But these games were invented by hustlers!!! Now how are people going to come along and say don't hustle with this? lol. Whats the matter with these people anyhow??? I don't see people on the bandwagon telling people not to go to the casinos!!! A casino takes billions a year and a Monte/worker takes in maybe $40 here or there but everybody is against the Monte worker. Is it because most Monte/shell street workers are minorities??? |

Most monte/shell street workers are not and have not been minorities.
Our friends don't have to agree with me about everything and some that I hold very dear don't have to agree about anything, except where we are going to meet them for dinner.

To perform the Monte on the street and take their money is a crime. Here in Georgia it is known as Theft by Deception. As far as monte teams being minorities, if you call caucasions minorities, most have been white men we have arrested. I don't care for casino's either. Glenn

It's not illegal in South Africa. In Kimberley I once watched many people been stripped of their hard-earned cash in a Three Shell Game. He stood at the biggest mall for weeks on end. He now either dead/millionaire.

Anything you do in the streets is illegal! My friend sells fruits, vegetables, and appliances, and he is constantly dogged and ran off by cops.
