It is clear that Tommy Wonder will always be amongst us, his wit and wisdom continues to grow within the craft as evidenced by this string, much as when once he was first planted within it himself as a young aspiring magi. An absolutely amazing magician and showman, no one's eyes could match his hands and their cleverness. He will always be a part of the One, and as such amongst us all always. And with that, as with so many others now, I do not say goodbye, because I cannot. Tommy Wonder did not say "Goodbye" to us in all this...perhaps he's still trying to teach us something extraordinarily magical. I'm sure his is and will always.

I saw Tommy Wonder perform live a few times and was fortunate enough to attend one his first lectures in the United States (I think in the mid to late 70's). When I first saw his cups and balls routine at that lecture, I knew that I was experiencing someone special. He truly was a great thinker and artist. RIP.

My first magic lecture was seeing Tommy Wonder about 10 years ago at a convention at a NJ high school. He set the bar very high for me that day, in terms of magic instruction I would "consume" later, but also in terms of grace and style, and the magical-ness of my own performing.

I only met him twice. The first time about one year ago and I asked him about his motivation to perform magic. He closed his eyes for 5 seconds and was silent for another 10 seconds and replied with a loud thunder in his voice: Those brains should be destructed. I am not satisfied with things in life, explanations, so called facts people take for gratented, etc. With mentalism it is easy to destruct brains but I want to do this with something simple as a small ball."
What did he do to my brain? He enlightened it and made me wonder of the endless possibilities magic has. His genius inventions are among the most clever and beautifull things I have seen in Magic.( floating table system, nest of boxes, to name a few). I love his phylosophy and thinking. It ispires me a lot and lots of other magicians and future magicians. Tommy lives for ever.Thank again for for all your beautifull essays and dvd's. Thanks a lot Tommy Wonder, for all your inspiration. Peace and love to your family, Veronique and all your friends. A few weeks ago I asked him again after a performance of Max Maven in the Magic Art Center in Bennebroek(NL), for the second time if I could be his student and he told me: Maybe after some months, my health is not so good now. Read my books see if you agree with me or not and we will talk. Let's do that in heaven. Never saw a life performance of him, hope to see that on the other side. Rest In Wonder |

On April 11th--the day I learned of the intractible nature of his health, I sent him the following note:
Mr. Wonder, I've written you before, once in an actual post letter . . . now I just send you my prayers, and hope to see you performing again soon. Regards, Ron To which he responded ten minutes later: Thank you very much Ron, I need it. All the best, Tommy I bid him farewell. He was the true nucleus of magic for me. |

This is a huge, very huge loss for magic. Over the last few months I knew that he was not feeling his best but refused to think that the day might come. Tommy Wonder's contributions to magic and his unbelievable attention to detail whether a lecture or instructional video, were unmatched.
His contributions will keep many busy for years to come. A Great man, perfectionist in performance, and missed by many. |

Words alone can not adequately express the deep sorrow that spreads throughout the world of magic. Tommy Wonder was truly a wonder to behold. He and his magic will long be remembered. Our deepest condolences to his family.
