Cig Push in. Also, when I can, I grab a bunch of the little gems and do the same finish as the color changing knives "Smash knife climax" and pour a bunch of the gems all over the table as a finish.
It takes the heat off the vanish. Lee Darrow, C.H.

Lee- Where did you get the gems (or do you just use any small gem-like stones?) and do you throw out more than 6, or do you toss out more?

Another idea are to have the rod from "Slip off Spots" on hand.
The SOS rod I have is very similar to my "Hot Rod". A quick switch and you show that one side of the rod has gone blank. A vanish using cigarette moves does work too. Try G. Wilsons all around vanish as well. |

I think that there is something we are not addressing in our discussion. In Jaypoc's original post he wrote:

Not knowing you creates some distance and allows them to not worry about you being smarter than they are. There is a guy in my office that I will never perform in front again of because he once tried to grab a deck out of my hands in a "let me see that" moment. Even though the deck was not gaffed in any way I found his behavior unacceptable. I doubt that he would have done that as readily with a stranger. Then again, Jerks will be jerks. It now drives him nuts when other folks in the office are buzzing about something I have done and he has not seen it for himself. I am not sure I am expressing myself adequately. It is my opinion that if everything else is good, i.e. you don't flash or tip the gaff; non-acquaintances are more likely to accept you at face value. Just my two cents. I think the question of to hand out or to not hand out is dependant on what it is, venue, your style, & how you are presenting it. There were some excellent examples listed above about how to let the audience believe that something is as presented with out saying "Here, I have a perfectly ordinary...". Most of us learn not to do that pretty quickly. I do have some labels that say "Perfectly Ordinary Deck' that I sometime put on the box for a laugh. Hope this makes sense. B

Fccfp- It makes a lot of sense, and I am learning that it is harder to perform for friends. I was out at a bar the other night with a few people. The one's who were more receptive to my tricks were friends of friends whom I don't know very well.

Where can one learn the "cig push in?" I am guessing that's a cigarette move, and I don't know any of those. How about "G. Wilson's all-around vanish" -- where could I find that? Thanks.

One source for cigarette moves can be in the "Encyclopedia of Cigarette Tricks" by Keith Clark.
Wilson's 'All Around Vanish' is on his "On the Spot" video and I think his "Off the Cuff" vid as well. Not positive on the second vid. |
