I have absolutely freaked people out with "Thought Stealer." I don't have RRTCM handy, so I can't give you the page number.
Here's the effect: The spectator thinks of a card. You shuffle the deck. Have the spectator spell silently to themselves the name of the card, one letter each for every card you thumb off the deck. At the last letter, they tell you to stop. Turn the card over and it's their card. Recall that the spectator merely thought of the card and never announced what it was, and yet you somehow reveal their card. I stunned my wife with it (she's not easily mystified). Jim |

I like the Do as I Do Trick the most. It is so deceptive you can do it 1 million times and no one will figure it out.
#2 Good Luck Card #3 Obliging Aces #4 Poker Puzzle #5 I like all the platform tricks so I can't say my fifth.

I'm going to second magic barry's vote. I also like The Sevens a lot, and of course acrobatic aces is a good quickie. IMO, Design for Laughter is one of the simplest and most effective card tricks from RR if you do it right.
(Even if you don't it's still pretty decent ) Happy holidays

I don't use many effects from Royal Road, but a variation on Design for Laughter is easily my favorite. I've gotten some incredible reactions from this (which is very entertaining for me!). They just can't backtrack on it because it all seems so fair. It's a perfect exercise in condition the spectator(s).
