Greetings fellow magic enthusiasts. My name is Kurt and I have been interested in magic for as far back as I can remember. I received my first magic set from my grand parents when I was in the third grade and I have been hooked ever since. After all these years I still have a few of the original props that came with that magic set.
Every now and then I'll take one of those old props out of the box and look at it with fond memories. The magic set that I got so many years ago sparked a fire in me that has not died out after all this time. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa... Although I have never really considered myself a professional magician or a master illusionist, I have been performing my little "miracles" for many years. My friends and family still like to talk about how "back in the day" I used to "freak them out" with the tricks I showed them... I got away from actually performing magic back in the late 70's when I had an accident at the wood shop I was working at. That accident prevented me from being able to perform actual magic for a long time so I did what I thought was the next best thing. I started drawing a comic strip about a little wizard. Along with magic, another one of my passions has always been cartoons and comic strips. I called my comic strip Mysto the wizard and I have been drawing it ever since... My friends and family started calling me Mysto the wizard because of how I could "freak them out" with tricks and because of the little character I created. It's a nickname that has stuck with me to this day. I figured it would be a good "handle" for the magic Café... Now that I'm all "grown up" (a term that my wife and a few others may disagree with) I still look a magic with all of the amazement and wonder that I did when I was a child. The "magical fire" that started years ago is still burning brightly. I am once again "freaking out" my friends and family with magic on a regular basis and loving every minute of it... Just the other day My wife and I had my brother and his wife over for a vist and I "floated" a dollar for them. They thought it was great. Then I "levitated" for them and after they all picked themselves up off the floor my brother said "oh no, Mysto's back"... Yes little brother, Mysto is back and I am enjoying it more than ever... Sorry for being so "long winded" and thank you so much for alowing me to introduce myself to you all. I look forward to being a regular contributor to the forum...
It's not the size of the wand that matters, it's the "magic" in it...

Hey, Mysto. Great to have you here!
Looking forward to your contributions to the community. Is there anywhere we can see your comic strips? Do you have any of them online? --dale. |

Welcome to the Café Kurt.
I wouldn't say you should be sorry for the "long winded" introduction. I (as well as many others) really appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us. Thank you for telling us about yourself. |

To answer your question jcards01, I'm about 20 miles northeast of St. Louis near Alton. A little town called Bethalto...
And I want to thank everyone for making me feel welcome...
