Scarne was an Italian wasn't he? The casinos were owned by the mob and Black Jack made the mob money. Scarne worked for casios didn't he? Card counting is simple math and Scarne was not short of math was he? He could have tested it but Scarne said counting did not work at the time.
I wonder why.

Interestingly there's no record of Scarne ever being employed by or for any casino. He did do consulting work but it was for the, uhm, "management" at various clubs.
