Not sure this is the correct area ( I'm new here )
I've recently bought a Micro 5 but it's still not strong enough for the PK effect I'm after, well it is but not at the distance I'm after. Does anybody know if the range will increase by using 2 Micro 5s (or their equivalent) side by side. If I've been an idiot and posted this in the wrong place could someone please let me know the right place. Cheers. MIKE

I wouldn't suspect that putting two together would increase the range.
What is it that you're looking to do? Maybe we can give suggestions. Best

I'm trying some sinple coin (gimmicked and normal coins) manouvers but would like to do them further away from my body. I'm aware of the usual body positioning possibilities using straps etc but I'm still finding the 'through hand' range of around 5 inches too short.
I've just ordered some shimming material of a strong variety hoping this makes a difference. Any help on the subject would be greatly received.

Not side by side, but it definitely gets stronger one on top of the other.
I used to do this all the time with two "Ultra K's," one strapped just above my knee under my clothes and the other one in my pocket. As I sat down at a table, I'd discreetly pull out the second Ultra K and stick it to the other one. I would then have enough power to do hands off animations through a table.

Thanks Dave.
My order should arrive within a week so I'll let you know how I get on. I favour baggy clothes and am designing a thin plastic cover for under my trousers (pants) that should maintain my leg shape and hide any increase in gimmick height. MIKE

That's pretty much what I did too, only I made it out of high density foam for flexibility.
Have fun!

One other thought has occured.
How would one discreetly separate the two items as used in your method? Some items I've tried with my Micro 5 are quite tough single handed let alone another gimmick on top! Mike

Easy. They have strong pull strength but horrible lateral strength. Just slide it back, maybe with a twisting action and off it comes! The fabric layer makes this really easy. I could slide it in place as I sat down, and slide it off and drop it back in my pocket as I stood up.

I duct tape my M5 to my stomach area and wear a loose shirt. I think 5 inches is a pretty good distance myself. It's far enough away from your body for the spectators not to get suspicious about anything.
I remember someone was selling an M10 here on the Café about a month ago. Does anyone know if an M10 is double the strength? I wonder where you would get such a magnet? |

Tbaer,
I'm not sure what the strength of an M5 is (I've heard it's an N35), but an N50 is the strongest available. I posted this in another section of The Café earlier.... Pull force tables, safety issues, and other scientifical info about Neo magnets can be found at http://www.kjmagnetics.com/

M10's are (were?) available from Chazpro. It's not something they usually list so you'll have to ask about it.

Magis6, the M5 is 2 x 2 x 1/2 thick which is N42 according to the website you posted.

Got my M5 equivalent today (strength N48) and carefully attached it to my M5.
The strength did increase but not as much as hoped for, It's a slightly different size from the M5 so I'm ordering another - Because it's much less £s BTW Dave, I bow to your superior strength! It took (almost) everything I've got to part them even with 2 sheets of cardboard between. I think once together I'm going to leave them that way and use another for when the strength is not as crucial. Mike

Actually, I used two "Ultra K's" which are about the size of a card case. I think they're a rare-earth magnet, and are larger but apparently not as powerful as the Micro-5's that came later. They are a dark grey (ceramic?) rather than the shiny metallic look of most neo-magnets.

Does that mean you don't have super strength or just that you didn't need to use it?
I think the M5s are plated to avoid corrosion.
