Right now I want to look into some of the gambling moves and see what I can use in a more casual environment. The two DVD's I'm deciding between are Weapons of a Card Shark and the new Sal P. DVD, Poker Cheats Exposed. While I'm sure the $100 DVD is of a higher production quality, it seems to concentrate a lot on casino's and poker. Looking at the outline of what is taught, they both appear to teach the same thing. Is the extra $70+ worth it for the Sal DVD or is it better for me to just purchase Weapons of a Card Shark for my purpose?
As a side note, are any of the Richard Turner DVD's a good purchase after this? |

Sal's Poker Cheats DVD's covers pretty much all the bases and provides a wealth of new information. Sal takes you through all the moves and gaffs carefully and clearly. It is one of the few DVD sets to compare favorably with Steve Forte's GPS vols 1-3. Jeff's Cardshark DVD also has some great strengths due to the explicit teaching style in my opinion and some original ideas relating to simulated cheating during play etc. However, the content is limited to manipulation and does not include gaffs, marked cards etc. Richard Turner is a superb card handler and again along with GPS, his DVD with all the false deals, mucks, false shuffles, stacking etc will keep you going for months if not years. It really depends how new you are to all this stuff. Assuming you have some familiarity with gambling sleights, personally, I would go with Sal's DVD's in the first instance. Hope this helps.

You know, it really depends on what you want to get out of it. Weapons of the Card Shark was weak on exposing how actual cheating goes on but it does go into how to do some false shuffles and cuts so it is pretty good for instruction to magicians on doing moves. I've not seen Sals work but it may be more in line with how cheats operate rather than how to do the moves. Cheating At Hold'em by David Malek is a very well produced dvd by a masterful cardman who really understands how cheats operate. You'll learn how cheats operate at hold'em but he doesn't teach moves.
Conclusion: Moves: Weapons of the Card Shark (I've not seen Turners work but his rep is great) Instructional on how they cheat: Cheating and Hold'em by David Malek Steve V |

I think if you want a very nice demonstration of cheating that will blow people away I would look into getting the keops dvds. it is very casual style and if you can pull off what he does I think you will get the reactions you want.
you can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all the time but never all of the people all the time.

Also Lennnart Green is worth a look I know he is not regarded as a gambling entertainer sort but he impressed the .... out of me.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

For entertainment purposes, Martin Nash rules! Strong routine construction that you can plug and play into your own persona/routine. He's the best I've seen on DVD! Lots or original stuff and a class act! Now for real cheating......... Not interested.

I own weapons of the card shark and I must say that if you want to get the basics down then get weapons of the card shark. I can say from personal experence that I have learned loads from that dvd. mind you this dvd wont make you darwin ortiz or richard turner by anymeans its a good place to begin your journey . jeff wessmiller is a good teacher although his voice can sometimes be monotone it gives you a wealth of infomation as for the sal 100.00 dvds well I suppose if you have that kind of money to spend id say get it only after you have mastered the basics. it will pay off in the end. also on a side note jeff is a very friendly and open to questions hes a member of the Café and from my experence is very willing to talk to you and give you feedback .so I'm always willing to say jeff's dvd is good for me it upped my skills by at least 4x

I got a lot out of David Malek's DVD and combined his talk with my walk for a real nice magical presentatation of cheating. While David does not instruct, I can assure you that anyone and everyone will benefit from his knowledge and superb DVD. And yes, Cheating At Hold'em is one of the finest produced DVD's I've ever seen. |
