Figured it was time to begin this thread. Any thoughts, comments, suggestions for those organizers? I believe how this venture began was a joint effort to host FISM, but the requirements did not suit either organization so this idea was born. There is info on both the IBM and SAM sites regarding location, contests, and early registration. I did see they extended the early registration discount until the end of 2006 which is $295 for the six day event. There is a $10,000 prize for the winner of both Close-Up and Stage Competitions.

I think it is going to be a lot of fun I recently spoke with Hank Moorehouse regarding the event, and I am looking forward to attending.
I am amazed that they were able to secure $99 hotel rooms for 2008! That is great news. I am going to register before the end of the year to secure the lower rates. People who wait until the last minute will have to pay twice that, which is still a great deal considering the stuff that they will have lined up. Here is a website where people can keep track of the progress: http://ibmsam2008.com/

How many of you have already signed up? Anyone thinking about competing? The website boasts that they already have 1,000 signed up to attend!

I am going to pass. Just too expensive. A lot of dealers are also going to pass as it is a lot of money to deal.
Hope it turns out ok but I will pass. Richard

The joint convention is going to be amazing! I've been going to the seperate ibm and sam conventions for years and I can only imagine what's in store. I plan on doing the stage competition, and I'm sure that gonna be a blast! See ya all there!
