CTB, it's truly fantastic. Mason did an absolutely fantastic job creating this illusion and the instruction booklet (PDF). In a nut shell you learn a nicely thought out routine and several tips and tricks to think about. I was told by Mason that this had a good chance at being on the latest David Blaine TV Special and is still in the talks about a new TV Special with Las Vegas magician Morgan Strebler. The first impression of the PDF manual is that it is very slick and well written. You can understand everything he is trying to explain. (Especially because he has a picture with every paragraph or so. There are 17 pages with 44 pictures. That's a lot! The manual gets a 10/10 for the layout structure and written part of it. The trick and method are very cool. You make the gimmick yourself, so don't worry about having to wait for the mail to come! It's quite simple to make the gimmick. It is pretty much garunteed that you will have the supplies to do the trick, if you don't. Well then I don't know how you go about your daily lives. Once the card is in the bottle, with this ingenious gimmick, you can let the specs touch the bottle to make sure its not just on the outside of the bottle or something. It takes 2 seconds to set up. and less that that to reset the gimmick and method itself I'd give a 7/10. It seems a little weird at first, but it really works! In the PDF you get many ideas that you use in the routine. You get several methods to ditch the gimmick. He teaches you every single necessary move that you need to do. I give the written explanations a 8/10. All in all the trick is well thought out and a very usable in the real world. If the gimmick breaks, you could essentially make one on the fly in about 5 minutes. This trick is good for walk around. I know I will be using this in future performances. OVERALL RATING 8/10 |

Is the bottle sealed when the spec. examine it?

The bottle is sealed when the card penetrates inside the bottle and it stays sealed until the card is removed. The spec does not really "examine" the bottle, they do get to feel the bottle with their finger to confirm that the card really is inside. But the bottle stays in the performers hands while this is done.

Does the spec need to be misdirected to install the gimmick to the bottle?
For those who believe, no explanation is necessary. For those who do not, none will suffice.

Pretty much. But only for like 2 seconds.

Another question, (i'm not fishing for methods here, do not be misunderstood)
can the bottle be example before the performance? e.g I borrowed the bottle and install the gimmick and all this while, the specs are burning my hands.

They can look at the bottle etc before the performance tho... You could install the gimmick while they are burning your hands, but why would you want to?

Last time I spoke to Mason about this, he said a DVD project was in the making with a big name, not sure if it is my right to name that person though

This is a great trick.
I picked it up a couple of months ago and I've been getting some great reactions from it. What I've been doing is performing it pretty much as described in the E-book. I place it on the table and go on with the rest of my act. Then at some point I do the bonus (second PDF) as I take a drink. What happens is after the show the bottle is left there for them to examine or keep of they like. You can do this right away if you're performing close up but I think the effect of the card appearing in there is the most important thing. I don't worry about taking it out again. The site of the bottle there with a card inside is pretty strong and because of this method there's no doubt that it's really in the bottle. Another thing I like about it is that it's done with a water bottle. I usually perform the card in bottle with beer bottles but water bottles are appropriate anywhere and they are very popular these days. Ron Jaxon |
