For a magic effect I need to control 2 out of 3 dice to hit specific numbers.
I can comfortably and deceptively control a single die (Scoot shot), and can do a whip shot with moderate regularity (but I'm using three dice here), but need a more certain method. For 1 die, I thumb palm it and "cackle" the dice, and then release the dice. The palmed die scoots and banks off of the wall. Very straightforward handling. For 2 dice, Im thumbpalming both and releasing them in the same way. However, Im having problems getting the dice into thumbpalm smoothly, and the scoot/bank doesn't seem as deceptive. Does any one have any advice on any other grips or handlings? Im working on a smooth bar top surface. I want to avoid dice cups for this effect. |

Whip it. practice it.

Usually a bar surface is too bouncy for a control shot unless you're sliding them which will become obvious soon enough. The whip is the answer but I had up all the dice shots, you should have looked at the videos.

Luther,
Since this is a magic effect and I assume you are supplying the dice... Couldn't you ring in some gaffs to get the points you want? I don't know what you are doing (whether other people need to handle the dice etc) but if you have all the control, a gaff may be the way to go.

Try some dice fluid or some of Doc's heavy plastic.

I have no heavy plastic. Because someone knows of something doesn't mean that they have it.
