What do you think are the jokes/gags/patter that are most overused by magicians?

For example:
"Not that hand, the clean hand..."
"Stand right here on the trapdoor"
"Examine this rope/spongeball/silk to make sure there are no mirrors or trap doors..."
Never criticize someone else until you have walked a mile in their shoes. Then, when you do criticize them, you will be a mile away from them and you will have their shoes.

I suppose ther is no point, really, other than to have some fun.

Maybe by listing them all then it will cause some people to take a look at their routines in order to try to avoid using overused hackneyed stale jokes and gags.

On the other hand, there may be people who WANT to become stale hackneyed magicians, and in that case this thread would be a starting point, of sorts Smile

Every move a picture...A picture of me doin the moves.

I havent ever really heard that one from other people but one friend said the first part and I said the last one night. it sounded funny. I don't know if it's still funny to others but it makes me smile.

Maybe a good exercise would be to just pound out a few old used up one liners and then we could all think up new ways of conveying the same point. Rather than just talking about BAD LINES. You would be amazed at how creative excercises like this can open up a ton of new material.

Whos First?

I thought it would be a starting point of stale, hackneyed magicians, not sorts.

What's a sort, anyway?

Who's on first... That was my exwife's maiden name so I think the question is "who's on First NOW?" and "how long is the line?"

Nothin up my sleeves...Or in my pockets. That's why I'm here, stay in school kids.
