Have just watched the video of Come fly with me. What a joke, does Mark seriously believe that anyone who has not seen this trick performed live would be prepared to pay £220 pounds. When I see magic demos like this it makes me think what have they got to hide. Looks like it was filmed in a broom cupboard. https://vault2.secured-url.com/jbtv/home.asp

I can't get the video to play. Any other source where you can see it?
Thanks, Jerry |

Don't worry about it Jerry. The "demo" is not a demo at all. It's just some fancy music and quotes from people who have seen it. You don't get to see any phases of the trick.

I no, that's my point, lets see the trick demonstrated then we can decide if we want to part with our hard earned cash.

Since it already uses the same gaff,
I wish He would put out a dvd instead. |

Guys
I can tell you this! I saw Mark's Come Fly with me at the IBM convention in Miami. It looks absolutely like REAL magic. I have never seen something so clean and magical in years! Take it from me and others BUT this trick is UNDERPRICED! You will never see a demo because magicians will tear it apart trying to figure it out! I don't blame Mark at all for NOT putting a video out. Bravo! Magically, Frank |

I have been lucky enough to have been informed about this item. It does not use the same U3Fly gimmick. It is similar but not the same. You could not use the Kohler gimmick to do this routine, so just providing a DVD would not enable the buyer to do the routine.
Putting a true demo video on would probably not result in better sales; only give Café members more opportunities to prolong the thread. Those who will buy it, will probably do so with or without a demo video. It won't be a determining factor. In fact, in most cases a video demo only aids in determining NOT to buy something. Think of all the self-levitation videos and how quickly watching one dispeled any notion of actually buying it. We all might have bought that Alex Lourido bottle thing had we only read an ad; but nobody went for it when they saw the over-cut demo. Also, on the other side of the coin, many of us might not have wasted our time (not to mention almost $500!) on that silly Watch thing of a few months ago, if we had seen a demo video. Is it overpriced? Well, in my estimation the first U3Fly was overpriced, simply because part of that big pricetag was the value of exclusivity; being one of only a few to have and perform the effect. Well, when that initial 200 went, so did the promise of exclusivity and some of the value of the item. So, with that price established, even though unjustly, of course any gimmicked version of the trick will exceed the price, so $400.00 is just about to be expected. By the way, yes, I do have one on order. Will I really do it? Probably not, but, from a magician's perspective I do like experimenting with the new approaches to the trick. To a spectator, they all pretty much look the same. Again, the last coin is the only thing that makes any version special or different. While this one is clever, and uses Paul Wilson's approach to emphasizing the appearance to effect the vanish, it still does not adhere to the clean look of the first two coins. But, as someone also said earlier, even this last coin probably doesn't make much difference to laymen. If you can afford it, whether your use it or not, buy it. If you can't afford it, but truly think you can use it, wait until a friend buys it and masters it and ask him to perform it for some people in real world conditions. Forget the routine; watch what kind of genuine reaction it generates from the real audience. And, give it a couple chances; some people just plain don't like watching magic. But, whatever you do, keep the work to yourself. Keep magic just that; magic. |
