First of all, thankyou for viewing this. I have been into magic since I was a kid (I'll be 50 next month) and the past 7 yrs as a part-time professional. Currently I do table-hopping 3 nights per week. I use mentalism and metal bending in my work and have developed a new effect useing 1 3/4" Aluminum roof nails (This works with other nails also). These have the spirals of screws, but are nails so they do look unique. This is not a bend technique, but a finger impression MELT.....into the nail.
I have no experience in this area of marketing, but this is one of a few effects I have created over the years, and for all the joy magic has given to me, I'd like to give back abit of me to say thanks. Magically, Joseph |

With this being my first attempt at trying to sell an idea of mine..Who do you approach to start the ball rolling? Is a patten needed on a "Effect" or is there other ways to protect it? What does a site do when they are interested, do they buy the rights or take a percentage of the asking price. What ever info I can get from someone who has been thru this process would be helpful.

If you can set up a web site and get a PayPal account, you can advertise on The Magic Nook site for free and we'll even put a link to your site so you can deal with your customers yourself. That way you keep 100% of whatever you make. We've offered this deal to other magicians, but they have always heard the old saying: If a thing sounds too good to be true, it probably is. As a result, we only have myself, Jim Gerrish, Fred Goode and Eleazar Goodenough actually making money from selling their products on The Magic Nook. But if you are willing to ignore the old saying long enough to SEE if this is too good to be true, you'll find that the offer is real... assuming your product is real and really good!

BTW, there's not a whole lot you can do to protect it other than rely upon the goodness of the magic community, unless you actually go through the trouble of getting a patent.
