Let's make a list of great effects which do need a Faro, but not a complete one.
2 of the effects on my list are the Vernon Ace assembly, where the aces are placed 13 cards apart (I think Ortiz has a version of it in one of his books) and Marlos cutting the aces - the non complete faro is in the shuffling squence that needs to bring the aces to their special position. "Fourtitude" by H. Lorayne in "Close Up Card Magic" chapter III is very nice and it doesn't require a perfect Faro.

John Gustaferro has an item, I think it's the one called "Clairvoyance" on his Brainstorm 2 DVD. I don't know who John credits it to, someone else might be able to help.
I didn't try it but it looks like it has tons of impact. It's a "magician locates a card that was merely thought of" trick. Michael |

Paul Le Paul's "Gymnastic Aces" uses a faro to make the 4 Aces jump out after they have been "lost" in the deck beforehand. It looks quite spectacular once you acquire the knack of flipping the cards.

Earthly Powers by Harry Lorayne.
The Happy Birthday Trick by Giobbi. I had been using the EXACT handling of the latter for over 2 years before Giobbi published this version in Card College. Total independant invention here. I had always thought it was a good trick, now that he's published it, I know it is. Lately, I've been using this techiniqe to explore card to any number. |

Card to number by Frank Garcia. Uses a partial faro and it doesn't even have to be even (I mean it is not necessary for the cards to be weaved one by one). Great one for faro practice. And when you have the faro down, absolutely the best card to number trick. Absolutely magical.

Earthly Powers is a Richard Vollmer trick.
Vollmer has a nice FASDIU effect in BoF:III using a straddle faro called "Easy Prediction." I like it.
