Does anyone know if he teaches his "Moorea Straw" effect on this dvd? The effect is he sticks a straw through is throat and it is seen in his mouth.

I think this is similar to the "The Impaling Straw" found in Mac King and Mark Levy's book TRICKS WITH YOUR HEAD. The effect is credited to Kevin James.

I have to admit, this is probably one of the best dvds I have seen in awhile. Its excellent.
The production quality, the camera work, the effects, and the technique are excellent. The advice is excellent. The material is excellent. The explanations are excellent. The performing situations are perfect. There is so much information on the dvd. L&L would have made this 3 volumes. A lot of the effects are standard, with variations. And finally a dvd where the performer doesn't take credit for inventing any of the effects, but changes them for personality and situtation. There is a lot of diversity in all the material. There are also some very funny moments, that made me laugh. All the info is realist, practical, and very usable. Because David Stone is performing, and he's one the best close-up workers I've seen the material is entertaining to watch, it makes for a better dvd watching experience. The structure and editing and camera angles for the explanations and performaces are perfect. You can tell that David Stone and his team, but a lot of work into this dvd. I definetlly think its one of the best dvds in the past few years. The only negative is that several of the routines(coins across, card manip) are performed more quickly than necessary. Although all the material is clean and direct, he could have gotten some longer reactions by slowing doing just alittle. just my two centavos |

I really enjoyed the dvd, there is nothing particularly new on it, but everything is entertaining and well performed and ideal for the restaurant entertainer.
It's nice to see the tricks performed in a natural environment. I particularly like his one coin routine, which is very magical. Coins to glass was very nice as it does not use any extras and no hpc. and there are a few nice bits of business throughout. Overall, a very good dvd. I'm not sure who asked but it does not have the straw trick on it, I'm not sure where that can be found, but would be interested as it looks good. |

The straw routine can be found on David's Quit Smoking DVD. It's a bonus on there. It's a good routine.

I just finished watching this, and it is an amazing DVD. Production values are excellent, and the routines are very well done. David Stone is very entertaining. His character comes out very clearly even without words (although he speaks english or french in performance, his routines are taught sans speech).
There are some really nice visual pieces here that can be done with little or no patter. If you liked the premise behind Shoot and Apollo's Cultural Xchange, you'll find the material on this DVD to your liking. If you like to ham it up, you can add patter too if you like. Mr. Stone goes quickly through the routines. A nice touch is that after each sequence, you are directed to books and DVDs by other magicians to help you learn the individual moves and techniques in greater detail. |

Does anyone know when Volume 2 is coming out? In the filmography for both David Stone and Jean Luc, it says they all work on Real Secrets of Magic Vol 2 (2006). Hopefully it comes out soon!

The Splash bottle is a gimmick created by Damien Vappereau and Jean-Mark Sinclaire. It is a great prop with many utilities. If you get to see David lecture, he shows you many more applications which are great. http://www.topsecretmagic.co.uk have these in stock at the moment

One of the best Dvd's I've ever bought, the routines are so smooth and taught so well. Great advice for the restaurant worker and working in tough conditions.
Prodution value of this Dvd raises the bar for all magic dvd's and a very intresting anti-piracy warning at the end. |

Ok, just got my TRSoM DVD today and my eyes were glued to the screen the whole entire time!
IMHO, this really is the best DVD of the year! The production quality, special effects, humor, routines/effects, insight, editing, and music were all done to the highest degree! The highlights of the DVD (effect wise) for me were Deck Flash, Cig Clean, Napkin, Bite Me, and One Coin! EXCELLENT DVD! -Vinnie |

I got this DVD in the mail yesterday. I even brought it to work to watch on my break times. So far it is the most entertaining DVD I have purchased.
I love the new way of teaching the tricks silently. I hope Liwag and Stone have set a standard in which most newer DVDs will follow. I was blown away with the amazing effects in this volume. So far my favorites are: Hermes, Ghost, One Coin Routine, Voile Rouge, Sponge, Traveler, Bite Me, Cards, and Napkin. The ones that I plan to start on are Bite Me, Cards, and Traveler. I can't believe there is going to be a second one! Anyone have word on the production on that one? I was really caught by that false roll of the credits. I laughed so hard! That was great! Who will be the one to sue the other for image rights? Jim Carrey or David Stone? Just kidding. They must be brothers from different mothers. |
