Hi all,
This is a question for all the 5 ring jugglers here. After you could do 5 with balls , how long did it take to learn it with rings? Thanks, Ben |

It would depend on whether you've ever juggled rings before.
I had never juggled them at all so it took a couple months at least. If you are good at rings already it shouldn't take long at all, typically rings are easier in the long run.
Thinking is the best way to travel!

Okay , well I can already juggle three and four rings , and I can do a couple of tricks too, so I guess I could put rings in my show by around Christmas?
Thanks for responding, Ben |

The problem I had was starting 5 rings. Holding them to kick off was a nightmare.
I got round this by starting off with four rings and holding the 5th ring between my knees. Then flash the 4 rings in a cascade and in the gap grab the 5th and chuck it in. Doing it this way I was juggling good runs (30 - 40 throws) by the end of the month. After that I'd start with 3 rings and have the 4th over my head and the 5th between the knees. Go from 3 to 4, taking the "over the head ring" and then go up to 5 taking the "knees ring". I still perform it this way, even though I can now start with 5 straight from the hands. The main problem I have at the moment is finding a ceiling that's high enough to practice. Hence I juggle balls and clubs 'cos you can do them outside. Good luck, I hope this helps. If you find a way that works for you as you learn please post it here. I'm sure other jugglers will find it helpful in the future. Especially as once you've got it you kind of forget just what you went through to get it. Take care, Ros x

Thanks Ros! I'll have to try that method!
I just tried Anthony Gattos ring grip http://www.anthonygatto.com/gatto_ring_grip.html and I also tried the ring grip on Steve Ragatz's site (Which is the one I prefer) http://www.stevenragatz.com/tutorial/grips/grip2.htm (Incase you can't see from the picture, This ring grip is the same as anthony's except the ring you throw first rests on your index finger, not your middle finger) Try both and see which one works for you. Thanks again everyone, Ben |

I was told that once I could juggle 5 balls, 5 rings would come easy. I didn't find that to be the case, and put many months into learning 5 rings. I have had other jugglers tell me that it took them about as long to have 5 rings solid, as it did 5 balls...
